proper defroster settings?

2006 CS. what is the proper defroster settings for the quietest, fastest defogging of windshield? air conditioning on or off, etc

Well I don't know if it's the same on all years and models, but on my '05CTT I just leave the whole thing on AUTO and hit the front defroster button. It's not quiet, but it does get it cleared fast. After it's cleared I just hit AUTO again and it usually stays clear. It doesn't take very long that's for sure!

About the only quiet way you can get it done is to park it under cover or a garage.
