Chalk up another fix for the P2181 code by replacing the thermostat. I was having to clear the code every few days if not more frequent. I have an 08M CS with 121k miles and should have replaced the pump while I was in and now I will do it this weekend. The pump impeller shaft had play in it and subtle signs of coolant weeping. Not a bad job at all, the sticky "Cayenne 957 4.8l V8 Thermostat and Water Pump DIY" is a good place to start.

Don't know what it would have cost at the dealership but yet another DIY project that allows me to afford this premier do it all machine!
