Susp. Ques.-Which is firmer?...aftermarket springs or air susp?
I’m thinking about buying a used Cayenne S. I have a few questions for the experts. I’ve already owned a V8 Toureg and didn’t have the air suspension. It was way too soft. It drove me nuts. So I swore I’d never buy another one without the air suspension. But now I’ve noticed there are a bunch of aftermarket springs available for the Cayenne. So my question is…which has the firmer ride? The aftermarket springs or the air suspension. I doubt I’ll ever pull a trailer but I don’t want to rule out the possibility either. I may eventually turn the EVO into a track-only car. The wildest off roading I’ll do is probably dirt roads so I don’t think that’s a big concern.
Will I pay a lot for the air suspension on a used Cayenne S?
Thanks in advance.

They feel same to me, i had a CS with techart springs and a cayenne turbo..
what;s nice with the air suspension is if you get sick of the firmride or if there are ladies in the car, you can switch it to comfort..
but it's hard to find a used CS with air.. most of them were special ordered... theyre discounting new ones for 10K, you can prob get an 06 fully loaded for 60K.... or might as welll look for an '04 turbo for around 65K, jmho

The touareg and the cayenne have totally different suspension.. that's what I didnt like about the touareg, but it is a nice ride... there's a guy in Europe who replaced all his suspension components on his touareg with all cayenne parts, LOL , he said now he loves it.. I have to find his thread from rennlist..
they said anyone who had lowered a Jetta can do the springs on the cayenne, but that's coming from an experience mechanic
me I just pay, haha
the reason I suggested air suspension on the cayenne, it will be too harsh for your passenger..
the driver is ok, try making them sit on the back,,,LOL

I have the Cayenne S with steel suspension. It's quite a firm ride which I prefer. The handling on it is incredible, you'll love it.
I looked for a CS with air suspension, and after two months of looking, I settled for a CS with Navi. No regrets. If you have the time and patience, you'll eventually find one wiht air susp.
