Straight pipes!

Thinking about doing straight pipes on my cayenne TT. I have the caragraphic exhaust, but is just way to quit for my taste.

Anyone have any sound clips? So i can get an idea of what it will sound like.
Thanks

Here you go Kerry, this is Evans CTT I believe this is the straight pipes. I extracted the audio from the video (I use the audio as the sound when my computer starts up haha), but I do have the full dyno video on my other computer if you want it.

P.S. I thought this was just going to be a cruiser no major modding ? Just admit it you cant help it haha

It's def loud and fun for a short while, but don't do it...permanently.

I ran around the block a couple of times with the cats unhooked (while I was installing the fabspeed bypass pipes) and I was setting car's alarms off and people were coming out to see if a drag car was crusing down the street.

I MEAN IT's GNARLY LOUD!!!

plus it seems it as though the CTT had very sluggish trottle response (I'm assuming attributed to no back pressure).

If you don't want to spring for an exhaust, I think the bypass pipes by themselves are a good alternative and a good bang for the buck. They'll give you a nice throaty sound without committing to a full exhaust.
Sounds def more aggressive and what the Turbo should have sounded like in the first place.

Hi Guys!
My setup is FVD Catalytic Bypass and FVD Export muffler! That is what you heard in the video above. That was brand new and has since gotten a bit louder! Inside there is no resonence and you can actually not even hear it on the highway. We are approching 20,000 miles with the system installed and have loved every second!
Here is the video of my truck on the dyno...
FVD Catbypass and FVD Export Exhaust Dyno Video!

Kerry if you want to go even louder than my setup you can also go with our FVD Export SUPERSOUND muffler in conjunction with the catbypass!
Let me know if you need anything else!
Evan
PS- I will make a better video when I get a chance!

Thanks fella's for your info and vid's.

I was gonna have AWE make me some straight pipes, back from the rear section of the truck. Eliminating the muffler completely.

How loud do u think that would be?
Plus would i loose or gain power?
Thanks

With nothing in the turbine's path the car should come on boost sooner, so less lag, which translates to more area under the curve

Do it!

ive dont it to 3 of my 4 last cayenne turbos and I loved it. On the last CT, I knew it wouldnt be around too long, so I just kept the exhaust stock except for the bypass pipes.

If you do it, I probably wouldnt do the bypass pipes too because it would be extremely loud.

The only thing I was worried about when I did it was losing backpressure, but it seems like the power wasnt that far off, especially after I did my ECU flash.

If you do have AWE do it, or someone else, make sure of one thing. After doing my first muffler delete on this truck, I learned that when they BEND the pipes to make them replace the muffler, make sure they bend them UP as much as they can without hitting the heat shield. I say this because the muffler on the CT is exposed, and when it is taken out and replaced by two small pipes, if they arent bent up, they look like they are dangling very bad. So when they cut the muffler off, make sure the bypass pipes are bent up a good amount so they tuck up a little bit instead of hanging down and flat. Also, make sure they line them up good with your tips. You will see what Im talking about if you look at it.

Lastly, for noise, under extreme load, it was loud as ****. Cruising around it was semi minimal and under normal acceleration it seemed about as loud as a Borla exhaust on an American V8 truck. But onceyour at speed, the drone in the cabin is slim to none. But like I said, if you want it loud under full throttle, this is the way to go. Also, it brings out the turbo whistles quite nicely.

Anyways, ill see if i cant drag up some shots I have of my old exhausts.

lates,
h
