I've had both those problems. The air conditioning is like a random thing that happens every once in a while, and i hate it. My brakes were squeeking and it turned out i needed new rotors it cost like a grand

I've had one occasion that lasted about 4-5 days where my AC smelled like a rancid baboon's ***. Thought that the auto-wash place used air freshener that they sprayed into the vent, and no they didn't use "rancid baboon *** scent", but I thought maybe since it was moist in there it might have built up some mold or something. It only happened for the first few minutes of turning it on but if I cranked it up, choked down the vomit in my mouth, and opened the windows, it passed after about 3-4 minutes and then everything was fine.

Not sure of the real cause but I don't let them spray anything in the car anymore. The only time that I have smelled that same nasty odor again since this period was just recenlty at the primate house at D.C.'s Zoo.

it's the mold in the AC ducting. turn ur AC all the way to HOT & max air. let it run for few mins. it'll solve ur problem for a good while.

for brake squeak, it's even more common on the SUV since it's heavy. do u like the ride on the brake? if that's the case then u need to re-surface the rotors. who wash ur car? make sure don't use wheel cleaner or anything with acid. they're bad for the pads. the squeak might be other reason but above are the most common one i see & easy to fix.

Semi-metallic squeak is very common. Be careful about riding the brakes- down shift when you can. Like 20 CFS said, blow out the air for a while and it should clear out, otherwise something is in the system.

change your cabin filter every 10-15k. it could have accumulated junk. also look at the vent at the bottom of the windshield. any leafs and stuff that is clogging up the ventilation intake?

turning off the ac a little before shutting down the car going forward can help to remove moldy smells.
