I've been toying with the idea of getting a 2006 Cayenne S titanium edition in the iceland blue color. It seems the 2005 and 2006 models -- the gremlins (electronic) were worked out. Are there any issues that I should be particularly concerned about? This car would be bought and driven probably well past 100K. I would assume around 20K per year it would be driven.

a) how well do the tires hold up?

b) any carbon build-up issues?

c) how frequent and expensive is maintenance?

d) what type of revisions will we see for the 2007-2008 model year? (I know supposedly no 2007 model -- but, what's the revisions expected??)

I am contemplating perhaps getting a used 2004-2005; but, prices between 2005 and 2006 are not that far apart. Dealer's seem to be heavily discounting the 2006 models they have left. Plus, I would like to get rid of my M5 -- and, it makes more sense to trade in at a dealership.

Your thoughts after owning one? This car is not for me ... I have my pcar -- and, it would be female driven. She likes the GX470 as well ...

oil change at dealership is about 300$.
Tires go about 15k miles or so.
My car has been rock solid. (knock on wood).

Although my gf doesn't like this car as much. Girls prefer the lexus and the mercedes a bit more since it's more GIRLy.

 

For that amount of mileage I think most important is following the break in period, the reason why it's not mentioned here a lot is because were a bunch o crazy car guys, who switch cars too often. haha she would love driving the S as daily driver.. youre right just get a new 06 titanium it's a pretty good value. My wife doesnt like anything anymore after driving the cayenne well aside from the RR Sport and Q7, the GX is nice but she said it looks like i'ts gonna tip over..LOL 100+ mph sweeping turns is a piece of cake, on cayennes there are bad reviews on the Continiental Tires as far as I can remember, but no issues on michelins and yoko's as far as stock.. maintenance on these cars are not too frequent for you to feel the cost too much.. There are spyshots on the newer Cayenne's but it doesnt look too promising, rumors are the v6 would be in the 300hp range, v8 almost 400, but not anounced.. I'd say if you want to save money the 06 ti are the way to go, especially if you can find one with PASM/airsuspension
