Lowering a Cayenne S

Howdy,

I've researched the subject but would like some live feedback. I just purchased a Cayenne S without the adjustable suspension and would like to lower the car. I understand there are several spring options. I'm looking to lower the car with minimal impact on ride stiffness. If anyone has some real world feedback on the various kits please let me know.

Thank you!!!

Roy

Anything other than the stock springs will make your ride firmer- so you'll feel more of the road's imperfections.
Is it just you in the car? Will your spouse/significant other complain? Do you have kids that will get jarred around? My friend lowered his and it really ticked his wife off and made the kids car sick, so he had to remove them, go back to stock, and get yet another expensive alignment.
These are all the things/problems you must take into consideration. Yeah, your Cayenne will look better a little lower, but the handling will only be improved slightly- it handles great already.
If it's just you, and you like the firmer ride, you should go for a set of H&R springs.
Of course, if you hate your spouse/significant other and don’t want her to ride in the car with you because she complains about your speeding, you should install them in a hurry!

Does anyone know where I can find the spring rates of stock vs. H&R, Eibach, etc?

Thanks
Roy

I would try the manufacturer's websites, but getting Porsche's rates may be difficult.

I used Techart's on mine. I did mine right after taking delivery so I don't have a real before/after comparison.
I also have 22" wheels. It is my wife's D/D that she uses to tote the 2 kids (3yrs old & 5 months) and she has never complained once about the ride.

KW variant coilovers available, a little pricey, around 3 k, i did the eibach springs, handles much better on the hwy, cornering etc, but the ride is bumpy and firm and many people in my car dont like it at all

TechArt of HR Springs are the most common options. Cost is low- around $600 I beielve and install is fairly straightforward. Be forewarned that the rubber mounts sometimes squeek after install due to dryness. Hope this helps.

Someone told me that Techart springs are actually made by H&R... but to Techart specifications. Though the springs might just be $600, the installation and alignment will be about $600 too. Grand total of about $1200 if you do it at Lucent. I want to lower my car but $1200 is kinda expensive for a 4 cm drop. So I'm still undecided...

600 dollars for allignment?!?! Iono if it costs more for SUVs but i used to take my car (350z) which had TONS of suspension work on it compared to some springs and it was hardly 100 bucks. The place in socal here did it and they are the bomb too. West End allignment. they do tons of work on imports etc. Ive heard the Lucent is super expensive in the past b/c they "do exotics" or some bs like that.

As for price on spring install itself. iono how it could be more that 200. ill probably just do mine myself..
