I read posts about someone speaking to techs at Porsche and they were told that the switch has been moved to the other side of the firewall. But I have no confirmation on that. All I know is that on a late '05 and 06 model, it is NOT where the pictures show it to be on the '04.
This is from what I heard from the dealership - no whether this is true or not, I do not know:
a) the 04's I looked at -- they said there are a lot of little electrical gremlins that can be annoying to track down. The salesperson recommended an '05-06 model. They did have 3 04's on the lot with 4 05's and a crapload of 06's. Looks like the 06's are not selling well. They offered to do a titanium S for $58K from a sticker price of $69K. I admit, it's in his best interest to sell a higher priced vehicle ... but, the 04's are selling for around $40K and 05's are around high 40's. About $10K difference between each one.
b) he told me that 05-06's, I would need to buy some extra parts to tow with even if it has a tow package. I'm assuming this is the brake switch part?
c) Is it better to tow with the 18's or 19's. Many of the Cayenne S's have 19" wheels it appears. I would think 18's would be a better choice to tow with since less rotational mass to start off in.
Finally, they did not know when the new Cayenne S's would come out. They believed it would be 3Q of this year. He said it should go to about 390 hp for the S models ... is this true?
If the new models come out -- will the old models decrease more -- or, have they depreciated in light of the forthcoming models already?
Thanks,
James

Hyboost, how did you get the prodigy to work on your late model '05-06? I too will be towing an e30 to the track soon and I already have a prodigy waiting to install, so I would rather use it if I could, rather than buy a different one. Thanks.
Here's video for all the naysayers that a Cayenne cant tow. Note the stability of the Cayenne
