Brakes and rotors are next... Mine were finished at 23k.

 

Is there a DIY for the brakes? I did the oil change on my V8 this weekend after my dealer quoted my $700 and it was super easy. I didn't even jack up the car.

 

Does anyone use Motul?

I did the oil change on my 04 CS and it wasn't bad at all. The only thing shocking was the amount and velocity of the oil coming out the pan. 9 qts of synthetic gushes out quickly, make sure to have sufficient drain pan capacity.

Underneath plastics are the "hardest" part. The rest is common.

 

Oil change was easy. Looks like Golden Peppa already performed the DIY brake install. Anyone else considering changing to different (low dust) pads???

I did the brakes a few months back using a DIY from Rennlist, I believe. There was a special order Torx adapter needed if you are changing the rotor (rear?) which I ordered online from Snapon. It was easier than changing the oil. It took me 45 minutes to get the three protective covers off and another 40 minutes to put them back on. The actual oil changing took 15 minutes. German overengineering. Next time will be quicker.

 

Has anyone used a vacuum can to suck out the oil? I have used this method on my Mercedes' and it is widely known/used in those forums. I have a 05 CTT and was wondering if this method is acceptable for Cayenne's. Essentially, you use a hand pump to create a vacuum in the oil can (about 30 pumps) then you insert a tube into the dipstick tube until it hits bottom. Release the clamp on the tube and it starts evacuating the oil. Very clean and you don't have to get under the car. Change the filter, add the new oil and you are good to go.

the only pita is unsecrewing the filter and being coated with oil. that can over the

filter system is very non german and something i would expect from the big three.

otherwise do the job yourself and go out to a 200 dollar dinner.

 

Doesn't the oil in the filter case drain into the sump?
