Ive had suspicions for a while but only now mangaged to quantify this.

Ive just put 2.3 litres of oil in my '04 CTT to bring it back to the max mark on the dipstick.

The distance travelled since it was last brimmed is only 1400 miles...and thats with my wife mostly driving it....lots of short runs but not driven hard.

Is this normal?

Never had a car that uses this much oil before!

 

It is quite normal for a consumption rate of approximately one litre each 5000 km.
Your rate seems high, was it actually full 1400 km. ago and are you using the "zero" weight Mobil synthetic?

 

Yep, 0-40 Mobil 1.

Ive read posts of a quat every 1000 miles being used but mines almost double that!

Yes just the turbo... I had a V6 before my current Turbo and it never needed topping off. I've heard the same as already stated... about 1qt per 1000miles.....
