Occasionally when I drive my cayenne, the gear switches from automatic mode to manual mode by itself. I’m 100% sure I did not accidentally switch to manual mode. Has anyone experienced this problem?
One of the unique function of the Tiptronic 6's auto mode is that you can down shift by pressing the rocker switch on the steering wheel. This enable the transmission to drive at a higher gear (better fuel economy, less engine wear). Should sudden acceleration be required, moving the shifter on the center console is not required, and you can down shift by pressing the rocker switch. At this point you have the option to continue to manual shift, alternatively, if you do not give any more input, the transmission will resume full automatic. Should you problem not be the scenario I just described, take it to the dealer.
It happenes to me all the time. I hit the triptronic switches on the steering wheel by mistake. as Deetz said, just switch the shifter from automatic to manual and back to automatic, and it should be fine.
