Rear Hatch Sensor Problem

Have any of you guys experienced Rear Glass Hatch sensor problem?
Everytime I hit a major bump, the sensor goes off and the interior dome lights come on. I have to stop and re-close the glass hatch.

The dealer has looked at it, but the fixes are temporary. It eventually happens again.

Is there a sensor-plug that I can just unplug?

Thanks in advance.

Couple things you can try, adjust the striker down a few turns to hit the switch harder when its closed, and also put some heat shrink tubing on the switch, essentially makes the switch "taller" and actuated more easily.

I turned the striker so the rear hatch is closed much tighter. It helped, but still goes off when hitting really hard bumps (NYC, NJ).

Switch? Do you mean the protruding rod?

Thank you for your help.

No the switch is down inside where the claw latch is located, you can see it if you look in there with a light, best way I know to get to it is to pop off the cover around the latches and unsnap the upper section of the rear hatch trim, then slide a piece of heat tubing over it and fire it to shrink it down, and on some severe case you may have to apply 2 layers. And on the striker adjustment, you wil want to "unscrew" the latch piece to lower it a bit, and might need to screw up the bump stops in the corners.

Ok, I'll try that. Can I just unplug the sensor?

Thank you again.

I dont think you can, I'm sure you will get some other kind of warning if you did that, it might always see it open, if the switch "closes" it.

Yes you can unplug the sensor, the position is normally closed and the glass door opens it so if you unplug the sensor will see it closed all the time, just tried this on mine
