Perfect spot...that's where I have mine, can't even see it from the outside of the car unless you bend down and then look up. Very inconspicuous...

 

that looks awesome. did you do the install your self? whatd you use to power it up?

is the headliner easy to remove to run the wiring?

The dealer installed it for me. I told them the spot I wanted it and they wired it up. It is in a great spot, I really do not even notice it since it is tucked away but works great.

do you have it attached via suction cup to the windshield or is it clipped onto the headliner?

No need to remove the headliner either. There's space to push it in at the lead edge. Then just hook up power in the driver side of dash fuse box (the side cover just pulls off)and you're good to go. Easy install. works and looks great too!

 

I maybe wrong, but I believe that if you have 6 points or more you have to pay an annual fee of some crazy amount just to drive in NY State. Any points over 6 is 75/yr for 3 yrs. I had to pay this as I have 8 NY points on my Texas License. Ask your DMV for sure.

 

I will never buy another Escort. Mine goes into self calibration mode non stop and thats $50 or for a 'fix'. Its a common problem they say.

yeah NY has the driver assessment program where if youre caught going 20mph or over you need to pay the DMV $100/yr for 3 years...what a crock of bs lol. Its not my fault the statewide speed limit is 55, and only some places 65. we need to upgrade to the likes of michigan where the statewide speedlimit is 75mph...or other places where its 85....

ive enlisted the help of a lawyer so i dont have to go upstate to fight this out, and i should probably get it to a 2 or 3 point violation (praying for a 0....) so i wont have to pay the $100/yr for 3 yrs to the dmv nor will i have to be driving w/6 points on my license for 3 yrs and also have to pay higher insurance...god knows the 2 or 3 points will be enough of a hassle...so lets all pray that she can work some magic and get it down to a parking ticket...although in her words "thats pushing it considering 87 in a 65 is excessive' lol

 

In California, if you go to court in person, you can usually get a reduced fine. I got ticketed for driving 82 on a bridge where the speed limit is 55. Paid $200 + online traffic school. After that, bought a radar detector-- will never left home without it.

If you can no longer do traffic school, you might as well fight the ticket. There are a few online resources showing you how to do it. Generally the strategy is make it a hassle for the court to process your case. The #1 thing you should do is to go to arraignment, plead not guilty, and request a "Trial by written declaration". Basically, you need to mail in a form by stating you're not guilty. The judge will sometimes dismiss your case. Even if your case is not dismissed, you will get another shot at a regular trial, where the cop may not show up.

By the way, trial by declaration is your legal right.

 

SLP are you using a Long Island attorney or a local attorney near court ? Don't use trial by declaration in NY. It is almost a guaranteed loss, unless the cop does not show up.

The driver assesment isn't just for speeding violations its for any moving violations. It also increases $25 a year for each additional point over 6 points.
