Well, Cayenne S got hit by an object that dropped from a huge truck on the highway. Hood and front bumper is dented and need to be replaced.

If we go through the insurance, we will pay deductible ($1250+) AND get "bad points" on the record for going through insurance.

I thought I would ask 6speeders but I realized that it cant really be helped but to decide on own.

Just a quick question though, how much is it to replace hood and front bumper? I heard that bumper alone costs 1000+...

Sorry, I can't help you with the price, but you might want to look into getting the Cayenne Turbo front bumper. I am not sure if it is a straight swap or not, but it would be good to take your misfortune and come out of it with a mod.

First off, thats a really high deductible !!
If it was an accident, you shouldn't get "bad points" against you, especially since it wasn't your fault.
All that aside, I would get a Turbo front bumber.

"Accident" on the highway

This job would be over $2000 for sure. I think this is a case for using insurance.

If you do go that route, you might as well go with a Turbo conversion, since the hood and the bumper are exactly the parts that are involved in such a conversion.

well, past 6 years i've lived in US (immigrants), we never had an accident and my parents own 4 cars...and they were trying to minimize the insurance cost.
my dad is the primary and he pays about 400 for cayenne s every 6 months.
also, i am a primary for g35coupe which is about 1000 every 6 months...
trying to keep it original since my dad is getting 4 door in near future.

well problem with this "accident" is that it happened on the highway and my parents don't have any information about the guy who actually caused this. they were on highway and they told me it was on going. (i would've at least write down the license plate but...whatever) So, basically, we don't have any evidence to prove that it was an accident.

it sounds like the dent on the hood is size of your middle finger (about 2~3 inches). do you think it can be popped out with paintless dent removal?
it prolly wont be fixed until i go up, which is about another month...
i knew a guy who does this professionally and i had previous experience with him but...i dont know if i can still find him :/

the turbo front would involve getting a new turbo front bumper, front valence (aka spoiler), and hood.

That is extremely high for a deductible, however, $400/6 months for insurance....I'd opt for that deductible as well!

Good luck getting it back to its original state!

By the way, for insurance purposes, I dont believe you require 'evidence'....you have collision & comprehensive...the comprehensive portion of your insurance should take care of it (as it did my car when some idiot keyed up the bumper and the rear quarter panels!)

well, i drive g35 coupe and i got keyed as well 2 years ago on the hood (about a foot +) and also, someone threw a rock on my car and landed and stuck on rear tail light.

i talked to my insurance and they told me samething that it will stay on record. in future if that kind of stuff happens again, my insurance might go up (according to the agent).

i am going to call my insurance myself and ask about this.

i really appreciate all the replies.

true, when i had the issue w/the keyed up car...i was with nationwide yet switching over to progressive the next week....when i spoke to nationwide they told me comprehensive claim up to $1000 wouldnt affect my insurance, anything above it probably would....however...i was switching providers anyhow so i didnt care and just claimed it!

good luck

just talked to them about the collision & comprehensive portion of the insurance...
they told me that whenever you make a claim, there's possibility of monthly payment to go up.
so it comes down to...do you want to go through the insurance and take the risk of raising monthly payment
or pay it out of my pocket...lol

as most of you know...g35 coupe is kinda on a cheap side compare to cayenne and the estimate for hood and bumper is off the roof!

[edit] SLP, for my case then, since my deductible is 1250, if the total estimate is around 2250, i should be ok right? (if i had nationwide and and had same policy)

not completely clear on your question, however....its either you pay $1250 and risk your montly payments going up...or you fork over an additional $1000 and dont worry about your montly payments.

Nationwide had told me up to $1000 claim on my comprehensive should affect my rates...however your rep said differently so...maybe things changed.
