I have a friend that owns his car for 3+ years so far and still didn't put on plates..lol
I drove my Jag with fake Irish plates for about a year and a half without ever getting a ticket. There were a few cops that looked closely while behind me at stop lights too. My guess was that they figured I was a diplomat and just didn't want to bother with the hassle.

I have the US Millworks bracket mentioned above. A good alternative IMHO.

I would just caution you that the plate is vulnerable when parallel parked, as it sits forward of the bumper line and other drivers don't see it or think about it. This happened to me a couple of times, including once where the car in front of me pushed the plate into my bumper causing a small nick. I eventually bit the bullet and put on the factory front bracket, got tired of worrying about the car every time I parallel parked.

Good point, I never thought of that. I might have to reconsider this. My dealer gave me the plate bracket I just have to bring the car back and have them put it on or do it myself. Thanks

As you're looking for more creative ideas....

One of the things I did for one of my other cars, because LA county issues front plate tickets when parked in meter spots.... I put powerful earth magnets (pull force 24 lbs) on the inside of the bumper and taped corresponding earth magnets on the back of the front plate (painters tape on back to prevent paint scratching. So when I parked in LA meter spots, I'd just slap the plate on which holds on super tight and when I leave, I just pull it off and throw it back inside the car. I've had people comment about concerns of someone stealing the front plate.... my response is who does that and if someone really wanted to steal the front plate, all they need is a screwdriver anyways so hard fastened plates would still be easily stolen.

Actually that's quite clever. I may have to steal this solution
