I was told by the dealer in HK that the special colors, Sand Yellow and Amethyist Metallic, are no longer available for ordering due to paint supply shortage from Japan.

Same situation in other regions?

 

I read in my car magazines that those 2 colors are actually discontinued

 

OMG, that are my first choices of colors.

 

I was at a Toronto Porsche dealer a few days ago and a brand new sand yellow Cayenne just arrived, the salesman said they had ordered 4 yellow and 4 purple ones and he never mentioned about these 2 colors being discontinued. I just checked Porsche Germany website and both these colors are still available.

 

That cars were from old orders. Would they take new orders for such colors?

 

In Canada, our wait time for a Cayenne is about 6 months, and they are still taking orders for the 2 special colors. I know in HK the wait time is much longer and in China is 2 years, so if the time is so long between ordering and production, nobody can say for sure if the same special colors will still be available. Our salesman said a new white is now available and the current sand white will be discontinued by end of this year but he did not mention that the two current special colors will be discontinued. In fact he knows we are interested in ordering the yellow color.

 

Glad I got my Amethyst when I did. Love the color!

 

I wanted to order one in guards red. Porsche told dealer no. Salesman told me that a gts is coming....he thinks they may offer red. Not sure why they wouldn't let you order a standard color that they offer on other models.
