Porsche will apparently mix and match mileage and # of years and revise the quote. Presumably, they have a math formula they use to ensure that on an actuarial basis, they come out ahead (just like Vegas).

those prices are pretty hefty considering you still have the base 4 years / 50k

Mercury insurance also has similar extended warranty for their customers. Don't have the car yet so haven't asked for a quote, but based on their insurance rates it has to be cheaper.

Be careful...Porsche DOES NOT offer extended warranties to customers in the USA except for via the CPO program. The dealer that quoted this to you was ignorant, mis-informed, or flat our pulling your chain.

I agree with your comment about Vegas and am frankly perplexed that a money making machine like Porsche does not offer such a produce to our marketplace (I know they offere it in Canada, for example).

Cool. I spent quite a bit of time on the phone with Porsche North America trying to obtain an extended warranty right before I sold my 2008 997s (as it was still under factory warranty) and went through three levels of customer support before being told it just wasn't available so if you find otherwise, I'm going to be very surprised... and frankly happy as a consumer.

I'm curious, has the dealer sent you the paperwork?

So I'm running a little ahead of the game before I get my car and got some quotes for Extended Warranties.

It looks like a

Fidelity Platinum plan will cost around $3k with a 250 ded for the 7/70 plan
EasyCare Total care will be around $3.1k with a 250 ded for the 7/75k plan

Wondering if it is worth it to just wait until my vehicle has 3 1/2 years on it before I pursue this. Not sure how the pricing will change.

I did read a lot about what is covered and even some horror stories about Extended Warranty companies not paying claiming lots of the items are wear and tear. I even checked the BBB complaints section.

its funny if you google YAHOO NEWS, there's an article on why it's never a good idea to pick up extended warranty programs on cars
