Did anyone here get an extended warranty?

If so, how long and how much did you pay?

In fact, is it even worth it?

I got one, but through Geico. They have a 100,000mile/7yr warranty that's $10/month.

Same here, got mind from Geico called mechanical breakdown insurance.
$250.00 deductible. 7 years/100k miles cost $15 every 6 months.

Does Geico cover bumper to bumper or "mechanical breakdown"? What is mechanical breakdown in insurance language?

I don't think Geico over mbi if you are not insured with Geico.
Mbi only available for new vehicles only less than 15 month old, less than 15k miles.

Isn't 7/70k kinda an odd warranty. I guess if you aren't going to drive it as much, it extends it by 3 years, but if you drive a lot, probably not worth it. Most of those are 7/100k I would figure, but I guess Porsche is implying lots of breakdowns after 70k

There were different packages, 6/100, 7/100, 7/70, different deductibles, no deductibles, etc.

They did ask us how many miles we plan to drive the car per year and we said 10,000 so he suggested that package. I think the geico deal is good

I'm just curious, but if you only drive around 10K miles a year, why purchase? Those are lease miles.

Because the car is a keeper (at least for seven years), in my opinion. That means no car payment for 2 years (after the first five) with equity driving this beauty. Then maybe the next model Cayenne will be available by then.

Frank -

Porsche does not sell extended warrantees here in the USA. I think they do in Canada, which is weird, but they don't here. Statistically speaking it's a big profit center for most car companies so I always thought it weird that Porsche doesn't offer this product but it is what it is.

The only way to get a CPO from Porsche is to buy a car out at the end of lease or buy a CPO car from a dealer.

If you're going to do the extended warranty make sure you do your research on what's covered and who is underwriting the policy. There is a HUGE discrepancy in pricing and that's not always tied to negotiating the purchase price.

My advice, talk to your dealer and independent and see who they have good experience working with. Take that information and do your due diligence so you're not buying a policy underwritten by some fly by night that's going to be out of business in year 5 when you try and use the policy.

From what I can tell and what i've read online, you can only get the MBI if you are insured via Geico. I was searching around State Farm's web site, but couldn't find it since I'm insured with them.

Anyone know if State Farm has MBI or any other cheaper alternative?

Quoted the following for a Porsche extended warranty on a 2012 CS:

5 years 80k total miles
100 deductible- 3097
200 deductible- 2731

6 years 80k total miles
100 ded 3353
200 ded 2922

6 years 90k total miles
100 ded 3710
200 ded 3189

Porsche will apparently mix and match mileage and # of years and revise the quote. Presumably, they have a math formula they use to ensure that on an actuarial basis, they come out ahead (just like Vegas).
