Need some Steering

I have assumed that the 3 spoke sport steering wheel with paddle shifters was the clear best choice........ until I sat down with a Salesman today. From his experience the loss of the thumb scroll button on the other steering wheel (4 spoke?) was a way bigger deal than gaining the paddles. He felt that unless you used the manual shifters a whole lot, you'd be better off with the superior selecting functions of the non Sport steering wheel. He regrets not getting it on his Panamera. We talked a lot about all the individual options and his strongest recommendations centered around Exterior colors and that Steering Wheel.
Any real life experiences/opinions?

I like a scroll wheel. The paddles get in the way when trying to signal.

Agree, I prefer the standard wheel with the additional functions easily at hand. With the three spoke wheel and paddles you do gain an additional stalk that controls all the functions etc however in my opinion it doesn't feel as intuitive.

i ordered my cayenne turbo with the standard steering wheel. the buttons on the wheel are very useful and you can still "paddle shift" with the levers on the wheel if you want. more importantly, the standard wheel has a button to heat it for the winter, which is awesome.

however, i wanted the tech features that the "sport package" comes with... i just didn't want the sport wheel... so I ordered the tech features separately (which cost about $1500 more) but I think it's worth it.

Sales guy seemed sure I could order the Sport package with the multi function wheel for the same price. It would be a bummer to lose that discount on the option bundle.

good luck. my guy couldn't figure out how to do this so it cost me $1500 extra to get the technology and the multi function wheel.
