Towing package
Towing package
I am in the market for a 08' Cayenne Turbo. I hear they do a good job towing? I have a small utility trailer that I need to tow for work on occasion. Does anyone know what the towing package consist of? I have seen many of these models with receiver hitches but very few ever mention a tow package?
This post would probably get better results in the Cayenne 955/957 section but to answer your question an '08 CTT would tow a small utility trailer like it wasn't even there. That said, I don't know the specifics on the tow package details but here's a bump for you in case there are others who do...
Towing package
We are looking for a vehicle to tow our track car and for off road use. Decided to wait for next years Cayenne Turbo Diesel for the low end torque and as we intend to travel to areas where getting premium fuel would be more difficult than diesel.

There is a long post at Club Touareg on towing:

We are still not sure how we will configure the Cayenne and trailer set-up reference sway control and weight distribution.

Tow capacity on the Cayennes are actually really good, from memory up to 7,700 lbs!! I once towed an 18ft open trailer with a scissor lift which weighed 3800 lbs and my CS had no problems at all.
i have towed a small utility trailer a few times with my 11 CS with factory tow kit - barely even noticed that i was towing.
My only complaint is that they provide a proprietary connector, for which you have to get a VW/Porshce (note the Q7 adapter is different) proprietary $45 adapter to use with any of the standard trailer wiring harnesses. For the 90K the car cost , they couldnt include the adapter ??? worst part was not realizing it until i really needed it, then the indignity of having to buy the part at a VW dealer since no local Porsche dealers had it in stock
