Radio keeps coming back on every time the car is started

I've read the manual and have tried the "SET" buttons and locking the vehicle with the key to save the settings when the FM is on MUTE, but the CS keeps turning on the radio when I return to her. Am I missing a feature or save function?

No, one of the odd "features" of the car. Radio is back on after every engine start.

That is really weird. Such as when I went into an underground parking today at the mall and once I start the car, you here all the static from no reception on the FM radio. I cannot understand why it is always defaulted to ON. Can the dealer program this somehow?

Not that I know of but worth asking. It does seem a silly feature but I just turn my volume down very low each time and it isn't too annoying.

So, even if you shut the radio off, turn off the engine, then start back the vehicle, it turns on again? If so, odd, no ther vehicle does that. It always defaults to the last setting.

Techincally, I do not shut down PCM by holding the volume for 2 secs. I just mute the radio as I am driving and when it is parked. Once the ignition is switched back on after parking, the radio is unmuted. Settings for status of radio is defaulted ON no matter what. Frank, is that what you are experiencing as well?

tex94, I guess if there is no solution, I would have to turn the radio down everytime.

If I mute the radio then get out and get back in and start it up the volume will be on.

Now if I turn off the radio and get back in an start the car. The radio will still be off.

Maybe just turn it off, if you don't want any radio on when you start the car.

I'm in my phone and using the mobile interface so I can edit my other post.

Or you could just turn the radio way down till there is almost no volume and then when you get back on it will still be on low volume.

I have a similar problem. The radio is turned off completely while driving, park the car and on start up it's on. I thought it was just me.

Yeah, it will not save my last volume setting. It defaults to something not too loud, but louder than the minimal setting I left it. If I shut down, PCM will need to be turned on every time I re-enter. Dunno why Porche feels that the radio should always be ON. Kinda silly - and a blaring oversight from engineering / programming team.

I just got my CS a couple of days ago so this might sound stupid..
pushing the button just mutes the radio, right?.. then how do you turn it off completely?

Just hold it down for a few seconds and it will turn off.

The only issue I have with it being off is that the whole PCM is off, so if you have Bluetooth phone, it will not activate till you turn the PCM/radio back on.

Here is an excerpt from the Owner's Manual page 178:

"A vehicle is not an ideal place to listen to a radio."

Kinda ironic...

Hopefully when someone updates their PCM version thru dealer and fixes it, they'll update this thread. It's just some software oversight.
