Cayenne Hidden Features
I see that there is an option to buy a 'non smoker' ashtray that fits items like an iPhone. I saw it here:

Here's the trick to saving yourself some coin if you want the same thing without replacing the part. Pull out the regular ashtray and use a small screwdriver to remove the small plastic piece that looks like it holds cigarette buts. It pops right out and voila! you have the iPhone storage location that doesn't consumer the cup holder area. This is for 958's
Hidden features:
On the 955 CTT
1. a button on the backside of the steering wheels turns the backlights for the steering wheel buttons on/off

Cruise control On/Off button is a "hard" button (which is strange). Meaning it stays on if you leave it on, hence a grayed out graphic permanently on the multi-function display. Pressing the button on the cruise stalk turns it off along with the graphic. Took me 900 mls to figure this out.
The manual indicates there are five 12v outlets but I've found more. If you have 4 zone A/C there are two in the back seat control area, one under the dash (as noted in previous post), one in the front seat cup holder area, one in the armrest and one in the cargo area. That is a total of six.
Read this in the manual, but I have not tried it. There is a button to the left of driver seat on the B-pillar which is supposed to disable interior alarm when the car is off. Strange place they put this button...

This disable button is a GREAT feature if you leave dogs inside a locked car.
BMW makes you press the lock button on the key twice thus rendering the keyless lock useless. Seems insignificant I am sure..... but not to me. Will be used almost daily.

you can still push the lock button on the outside handle twice and it will do the same thing.
Neat feature on the Multi-Function Display. There is a scroll bar on the top right of the display to show you how far down the list of screens you are. As you scroll, the scroll bar moves up or down. Not visible in the map display, but visible in all other info menus.

The problem on the BMW is that the door buttons are not reliable. They are not even buttons....more like pressure or heat sensitive raised pads. Sometimes one touch activates, but sometimes it takes 3 or 4. The Motion Sensor inside, on the other hand, is 100% reliable which can lead to some big noise while at the gym or grocery store.
Hope the Cayenne's will be better.
