Well. I finally picked up my CS Today. Finally after a 4 month wait. It actually came in early. My first project is to change the rear tails.

Can someone tell me how I take this thing apart? Since I just got it, don't want to accidently break anything. Can someone tell me where I need to pull this thing off and is it hard? See arrows below in pic

I don't think that piece comes off and is apart of the taillights. Most likely you need to remove the trim behind the TL and you will see the wiring and screws from the rear not sides.

So, has anyone else done it themselves. Before I start poking around wanted some hints as it isn't in any of the manuals like the front headlights and the side markers.

Interested in this as well, will be my first mod. I know a group buy was done not too long ago for the smoked tail lights, maybe another one is needed!

I'll post some pics when I have some time. You can be the judge for yourself.

Do you have instructions on how to remove all the tail lights assembly? I just received the smoked tail lights ...can not see how to remove the lights on the tailgate!

I was able to peel off the plastic tab (in picture above) for the corner lights just gentlenpressure at the bottom corner closest to you. Seems like to screws that need to be loosened are then exposed, and prob just need to pull back.

But... Have not tried it because I'd like to know how remove the tailgate light also before I do any removal of the corner light. I can tell that the carpeted back lining on the tailgate needs to be removed to gain access to the screws for the tailgate lights. Problem is that I can not figure out how to remove the carpeted lining.

I have figured out how to do most of the removing of parts. Im not sure if im confident enough to finish it and therefore did not complete it.

1) removing the carpet liner for the tailgate light assembly seems the most labor intensive but probably not too difficult for those who are more patient than me. You need to start by peeling off the plastic trim at the top of the window. This just easily snaps off at the edges closes to the windshield. Then you snap off the plastic trim off the sides. All plastic pieces are held in place simply by metal anchors entering into slits through metal. just pull 90 degrees off slowly. The side plastic trim is held in by 3 anchors.

once you get down to the plastic trim connected to the carpet lining, these seem to be stuck together and both carpet and plastic can be peeled off. You need to unscrew the screws in the handle at the bottom of the tailgate in the light recepticle. You need to also unscrew the 2 screws in the middle of the tailgate under the folded carpeted door panel (not sure that this is for...probably the hazard triangle it did not come with).

I had it about half peeled off the tail gate and could see the screws and nuts holding the tailgate light assembly in place. I do not have the tools to reach into the metal frame to access the nuts so i stopped here.

anyone who finishes this project let me know!

i think i will ask the dealer to do it as it will take me 2-3hrs to do it the first time i think..and i think id rather pay someone to do it unless someone can tell me exactly how to do the rest. I usually change the bulbs on my previous cars but these light assemblies on the tailgate are a pain and not a 30min job. The corner lights do not seem hard but if im not going to finish it all im probably not going to try the corner lights either.

Kudos to you for trying!
Though in all honesty...you lost me after "carpet liner'
