My first SUV
My first SUV
I have owned 8 911 Porsches including my current 997tt (EVT700) which I still have . Recently I test drove a 991 and custom ordered a car but along the way decided to wait for the 991 Turbo . I had traded in my 997.2S and I hurt my back .
So .. this led to a decision which is completely foreign to my car buying history . For the first time in my life I bought an SUV and I love the car !!!!!
The car itself . I opted for a very well optioned V6 . Panoramic roof , two tone full interior , ventilated seats , Bose , Turbo wheels , Nav , backup camera and sensors .. I can keep going but cant even rememer all the things on this car . In short its a great daily driver centered on overall comfort and decent fuel consumption . I happen to like the V6 much more tahn the previous gen Cayenne V6 which i drove as a loaner a few years ago . Of course its not a Turbo but I already have a 911 Turbo as well as an M3 if I wanted a different driving tool . The car does provide amazing comfort and i wanted that aspect to be an important focal point .
A few observations --
1) I love the dash and console layout . It is so user friendly for me.
2) The cream interior will be my cleanliness challenge but i really like it .(car is two tone umber /cream)
3) Ventialted seats blew me away . In my 997 cars I never considered getting this .
4) It has Bose but if i ordered the car I woild have to get Burmester .
5) The drive -- It is so beyond strange for me to feel like i a sitting in the clouds compared to all of my lowered cars wuth ventialted seats driving an automatic . Whats even more stange is that i am liking it !!!! A lot !! Considering the size of this vehicle it drives beautifully and handles very nicely.
8) The compliments -- I find this the oddest thing of all . In the past if i saw a Cayenne i myself never really gave it much of a second look . I spent years drooling over and buying the 911 cars . When i bought this car i never imagined anyone would even notice or say anything. It's been just the opposite . The interesting part is that the compliments are coming mostly from those people who own cars like sedans or other Suvs . In short the highest praise is coming from those who i always felt had boring cars . Its as if i opened the door to an entire new dimention of car afficianados because these same people never commented on my 911 cars but they love the Cayenne.
Conclusion -- This is going to be a fun car to have !!!!

congrats!
I just picked up a 2011 CS for my wife in midnight blue, decked out, prior PCNA demo car with CPO for 66K. Only had 11K miles on it.
I love it! I drive it while awaiting my 997.2 to come back from the shop with the X51 powerkit installed.
This so beats any SUV I have owned, including X3 (which it replaced) and X5 which I lemon lawed in 2002.

Congrats! You may find yourself feeling more relaxed especially in traffic with your new view.
White with the Turbo 2 Wheels is surprisingly attention getting. It is clearly an SUV but not having roof rails makes it look more super car like too.
Your future opting for Burmester is wise. Seems like a lot to pay, but if it's a DD, and you get pleasure from good sound, it is completely worth it.

Larry, good to see you join the Cayenne camp. Remember the 997 you helped me decide on 4 years ago? Well after driving the wife's Cayenne and finding it much more useful (to haul my toys around), I gave up that stick shift and got myself a Cayenne as well.
Your post reminds me of the one you wrote about the white PDK. Once you try it, you begin to fall in love with it!
Enjoy the new ride, she looks stunning!

Congratulations Larry. Saw the same combo in person the other day. Stunning. Simply stunning. IMO, perfect for Florida weather. Please get yourself some leathrique and prestine clean and no denim wear. Period. The vehicle is a great combination of luxury and performance. I just love the interior. Nothing comes close to it.

I saw your reply in the other thread. I am having hard time believing that you found this sitting in a dealer lot. This is very close to what I wanted except 3 months+ wait time. Lucky you. I am currently steered away from Peppers since Macan is rolling out next year. If the worst comes, I will just pick up a Pepper.
Regardless, congratulations again! Will you be modding this as well?

Congrats and welcome to Pepper country Larry
I am delighted that such an aficionado of the 911 as yourself...feels at home in the Cayenne
and looks forward so much to driving it
I also believe the spirit of Porsche is definitely present in the Cayenne, just expressed differently
I also came from the 997tt and very much enjoyed it from the start as well, not thinking of it as an SUV but rather a large car with a nice driving position that affords you a good view of your surroundings
I love the comfort and feel of the interior(second to none in my opinion)
Comfy and spacious yet also delightfully snug in a sporty luxurious way
Umber-Cream is a refined choice of colors, though I did not share your and others confidence in being able to keep in clean :roll eyes: so I chose black
Happy trails

yeah, we have similar cars.
m3 and a cayenne. but no 911 in my garage (it's been gone for 2 years) :-(
i love our Cayenne. It's our baby mobile (my daughter who is 6 months love the pano roof. She can see the whole world out of it. :-)
enjoy Larry, it's a nice pick up.
did u get the air suspension as well? i am guessing yes since your car is stickered 74k. hmm. the base model is 46, but u have almost 28k in options. Nice. You beat me on this. we were close to 25k factory and another 7k aftermarket.

Congrats. I used to hate how the Cayenne's looks, it was just ugly as sin. But the new ones looks great. Every new model looks better and better. My neighbor has a black one and I really like it.

. I must say that after i drive the new 991 PDK it ruined the PDK in my 997 car . The newer car had such a better system that i don't miss the white 997S at all . I still have my turbo though (manual) and am waiting to see the new Turbo. Also I am in this honeymoon phase of liking this SUV so I want to see what my opinion evolves into after the novelty erodes with time.
Congrats and welcome to Pepper country Larry

So far in three days .. the interior is still clean . We'll see how it goes over time .

Thank you . I have an expert detailer who normally takes my cars once every few months and makes them look better than when I took delivery .
In fact my Turbo has been with him now for a few days . I actually called him when i bought the car . He knew the interior . I have a feeling he will see this car often .
