2013 - what's new?

Have a 2012 CS. Just wondering what minor changes are in line for 2013? Anyone know yet?

The updates for 2013 are minimal.

1. There are new lock/unlock buttons integrated in the door handles of the front doors.
2. An analog clock will become standard equipment on top of the dashboard where the compass would go, so it will no longer be a blank surface.
3. The Cayenne Diesel and GTS will join the Cayenne range in the second half of the year.

In Porsche fashion, any power/consumption upgrades have been reserved for the facelift which should be sometime late next year.

I'm going by the Porsche press release about the US-spec Diesel; it detailed those upgrades for the new models even though I've already seen them on the 2012s.

We don't get either option in Kuwait, by the way. I believe the 2013 models will start including the door locks, but the compass remains an option. We can also add a clock as part of the optional, new-for-2013 sports chrono package.

The clock was only included for several months for 2012 model in certain countries, none of the 2012 Cayenne delivered in Canada ever got the clock.

I have not used it much yet,but love the looks of the compass on my 2011 and its elegant dial face
Splits the dash in a symmetrical way, pleasing to the eye

A wireless internet option (AXZ option - wireless internet) was on the website as an option in April for the 2013 but I don't see it now.

I was asked if want that option when I ordered mine in Jan, but I think that option doesn't make sense at all. It's DL speed is limited to 7.2mps if I remember correctly, and offers only WIFI G rather than N. Furthermore, it cost at least 1.5 thousand dollar in here Australia. I would rather you get an iPhone with that money, which comes with 64GB of flash drive, and a 14.4mps Wifi Hotspot. Keep it connected in the glove box and you pretty much got a in-car wifi router + flash drive ipod.

Good info. That might explain why it seems to be no longer an option. Porsche needs to focus more on technology and make things more real. For example, the Porsche $85 USB that looks like a key is only 4GB where is should be in the 32-64GB range now.

From what I've seen, the car that seems to be leading in technology is the Tesla S with the 17" high resolution flatscreen monitor/control console with wifi in the car. Amazing.

If you are looking for electronics gadgetry, Porsche is the wrong brand. I'd much rather have performance than fancy electronics in a Porsche.

It was a momentous occasion for Porsche to put cupholders in their vehicles. The Porsche theory is they are cars meant for driving. Not restaurants meant for eating & drinking or entertainment centers meant for, well, entertaining.
