New "Cayenne Turbo Powerkit" on configurator
So I was just looking at the online porsche car configurator for the cayenne turbo since I was trying to verify some options I had ordered under the performance option and .. now I see a new "Cayenne Turbo Powerkit" option for $19,290!
The only detail I was able to find out was.. after clicking on that "information" icon next to it.. it says:
"Increase in power to 540 hp. Includes optimized engine management, redesigned engine compartment featuring Carbon Fiber throttle valve cover and plaque, titanium-colored intake manifold featuring Carbon Fiber inlays with silver-colored ‘turbo’ logo."
After googling.. I found this one website http://www.autoevolution.com/news/po...kit-34450.html And near the bottom it says.. “The increased power is partly achieved by two new turbochargers with titanium- aluminium turbine wheels and adjustments to the engine electronics, resulting in yet further perceptible improvements in the engine’s response."
Anyone know the details of this power kit?.. if it has a different turbo charger?.. It shows it as an "exclusive" option so it doesn't seem like it would be a.. Cayenne Turbo S or anything .. but who knows haha..
If all there is.. is just a remap some cosmetic pieces in the engine bay then.. I guess that 20k could be spent elsewhere to get more power
.. I'm just rationalizing since I already placed an order for the cayenne turbo and is scheduled to be built end of Sept and arrive here beginning of Nov heh.

Oh...they put it back on
It had been previously available, but for a short time
Funny thing,2 days ago I stopped by the dealership and asked if it was possible to retrofit it to my CT
the service manager seemed real insterested and told me he was going to look into it...

pepper, I guess the only pieces I'll be interested in is.. everything minus the actual ecu change haha.. like the carbon fiber, titanium color intake manifold cosmetic stuff in the engine bay... Still have to be realistic.. that's a lot of cash for 40 hp if it's not a change in turbochargers or.. additional intercoolers and etc.
atlshaver, back when you got it.. do you remember if it was advertised as intercoolers and all that stuff? I guess I'm curious and trying to make an educated guess if this power kit package upgrades the current intercoolers or anything else aside from what was listed as far as.. the ecu change and cosmetic pieces.

From what I hear, the Turbo S is going to be announced any time now...and that dealers already are taking orders on it...so this makes sense that they will offer the power kit as well, just like the Panamera Turbo power kit offering.

My dealership in Texas claims they can get
More HP by:
Sending both turbos to Germany, to a company that bores them and increases.
Bmc filter, fabapeed cat delete, muffler system, dime flash, ALL for under $9,000.00 and with more than the 560hp.
Which route would I go, from factory and pay $19k or more HP and still done by the pros at the dealership for 1/2.

Nice to see you also have a mod friendly dealer

Could you find out the name of that company so I can submit it to my Service advisor
He is very much into mods and welcomes any additional info
Thanks

I believe the sponsor of this forum can do a power upgrade. If my memory serves me, the salesman mentioned it's less money and better than the $19K option. Not for me, just happened to notice this thread.
I previously checked with my dealer and they told me that I am able to purchase the power upgrade as an add on and it is included in the accessory catalog and comes as a kit with its own part number.
The kit was about $19000 and included everything mentioned in the post as well as front break discs. I was not sure if those discs were ceramic as there was no mention of a caliper change.
That price does not include installation which I am sure will be expensive.
IMHO, I would get a remap from one of the sponsors here for $3000 and you would get way more bang for your buck.

I had asked my sales rep about this powerkit and this was the reply I got from him, thought I would share for inquiring minds
"Hi Larry,
It's academic now since Porsche's stopped - at least for a while - production of Turbos with the Powerkit.
The Powerkit is more than just more turbo boost and some cosmetics: larger turbos, revised intercoolers and intake and exhaust systems. They really do a bunch of stuff for the $19K, but it really is just for an incremental amount of extra power (and maybe a tenth of a second to 60 mph).
But unless someone's got to the point in the "regular" Turbo where even with throttle to the floor he needs still more power, the Powerkit is about having more potential power, not having extra power a driver would actually use!
All the best,
Mike"
Now.. as far as how accurate it is related to this specific power kit.. well I don't know exactly.. I do know I already opted in with the PCCB so the brakes I have
..

My dealer did this for me before I even picked up my Cayenne when new. From EVOMS. $3,695.00

2011+ Cayenne Turbo Power Kit 2
SKU:TUN958PK2
Evolution MotorSports Engine Performance System for the 2011 Cayenne Turbo / Panamera Turbo improves engine power and torque for impressive performance gains. The stock 4.8L twin turbo engine with 500 HP is increased to 580 HP with the OEM integrated sports button. Engine torque is also increased from 516 lb.-ft. to 605 lb.-ft which dramatically improves acceleration and overall engine performance. Additionally, in normal engine performance mode, power is increased to 550 HP and 575 TQ.
When I did this GIAC didn't offer anything for the Cayenne Turbo. Since then they also have a power kit. I'd be very comfortable with theirs also.
The EVOMS is a "piggy back" system while I thing the GIAC is a flash of the ECU.
