Engine Stops After Shifting To Park

I am being told by the dealer that it is normal for my 2012 Cayenne Turbo's engine to stop when I put the gear into Park. It does this about 15% of the time, so I really question what I am being told by the dealer. I am curious if anyone else has experienced this occurrence.

I guess your car has the "Auto Start Stop" function. "The engine stops automatically when the vehicle is stopped, e.g. at traffic lights or in a traffic jam. The Auto Start Stop function thus helps to save fuel." I copied this from the Cayenne Owner Manual.
However, my 2012 Cayenne Turbo engine doesn't stop when I put the gear into Park.

It happens for me on my CTT as well. It appears to be a normal thing. I wouldn't worry about it.

The engine will stop when you are in drive and stopped and only when you have your foot on the brake. If you have A/C at max or battery is low, my understanding is the engine won't stop in order to keep alternator power to the battery. I haven't noticed if my CTT stops in park even when battery is full and low AC or if the brake has to be applied at the same time. I'll try it and let you know.

Thanks for the responses. My concern is the intermittent performance on this issue and the car not always automatically going to 1st gear when stopping when in Manual mode. Apparently with this car conditions (temperatures, air condition, auto stop on/off) cause it to behave differently.

Honestly,I don't see what the fuss is about this auto start/stop function
It comes on or it doesn't,depending on battery usage(or if manually switched off)
I am way too focused when I drive to let something like it distract me
If it activates:good..if it doesn't,good as well
I have not noticed it impact performance in any way..
Btw,pretty convenient to have it active while at a drive through
This morning, while stopped at a light,it kicked in..so I put the car in park and took my foot off the brake...
...and it stayed on...or off,in the case of the engine

Don't worry about it, it's normal at least for my country. Auto stop start will engage whenever I put the gear into park, or step on the brake and the car stops. This system will not stay off due to regulation here, but I believe you can turn it off and it will stays that way in US.

As for the 2nd gear in manual mode, someone else brought up this topic not long ago and it happens to all cayenne I believe (same goes to BMW).
