The ML is basically a minivan. Do you want to drive a minivan? M-B quality has gone to crap too.

I've had a M-B with that 550 motor though and it's a great engine. On the flip side, I've also had that 7 speed tranny and it's terrible. There's a reason the AMG engineers won't put it in any of their cars.

Stick with the Cayenne. If you want a change, then upgrade your Cayenne to a V8.

I just traded my wifes 11' Cayenne V6 for a 13' ML350.
I didnt like the new look of the ML when it first came out, but this one in particular in diamond white with the AMG sport package and 20's really pops.
The ride is fantastic, more on the comfort side than sporty, but what a great family hauler it is. Newer technology and a fresher model sold me out on this one. I bet the more powerful V8 ML550 is awesome.
I would definetely take it over the Cayenne V6 again, but only for the wife, not for me hehe.

I agree, the ML is more of an off-road capable mini-van. I passed on it because of the higher fuel consumption, the lower towing capability - and the physical fact that it's too tall get it through my (admittedly low) garage door opening. I have no use for roof rails, but you can't get a ML without them.

Why not V8 (i.e. Cayenne S)? ML styling definitely gotten better but not up to my standards. I can't think of any other SUVs with better aesthetics than Cayenne but I am biased.

thanks for all answer... Yes, I was thinking in a cayenne s, but when i went to the dealer to trade my car, the price for my car was $45.000 with just 4500miles so... in my opinion its too low money.. I pay cash 63.000 because I'm from Venezuela and now I live in Gainesville to learn english.. I'm 23 years old..
In the local mb dealer the price for my car was 57500... this its another reason to buy the Mb.. I know in this country all the cars lost money.. but 45.000 its a bad price...

I would not change. I had a Mercedes, and that 5.5 liter engine is one nice engine, the ride is nice, but quality of build, towing capacity and performance does not match the Porsche.

yes i know, cayenne its more sport but the v6 engine in my opinion doesn't has good quality... I think cayenne its good in S.. but i can't trade my car for 45000... Another option its a range rover sport, but i think the model is dated

Honestly, I don't understand what you are looking for. What "quality" are you looking for? Build quality? ride quality? performance? My only recommendation is to test drive these vehicles to evaluate where you stand with V6 pepper.

I'm very confused with the numbers you're posting. What you're trying to say is being lost with your English. Are you saying the Porsche dealer only offered you $45,000 for trade-in for your Cayenne, but the M-B dealer offered you $57,500?

For some reason NADA won't let me price out a used 2012, so I did a 2011 instead, which should be fairly close. The trade-in value it gives is $59,950 (with no options selected since I don't know what you have). I don't understand why the Porsche dealer would only offer you $45k. Did you buy the car in the US or did you import it from Venezuela?

The dealers will always give you a low-ball offer, though I'm surprised the Porsche dealer would go that low. Normally they go about 10% low on their first offer in my experience (I trade in cars about once a year every year). 20% low is a little ridiculous. The M-B dealer was right on $57,500 considering you probably have some options and I didn't choose any on NADA and I chose a year older, so your trade-in value is probably closer to $63k than $59,950.

I don't either. What don't you like about your Cayenne that's making you want to get rid of it? What are you looking for in a new car that's making you want to get the M-B ML? Honestly I don't understand why any 23 year old would want to drive an ML when it looks like a minivan. It's a family car, not something for a 23 year old to drive...

Yes Teflon_jones, The dealer of porsche just offered 45.000 and the mercedes dealer offered 57500... my car has just convenience package... And I need a SUV because I have family... of course yeS I like sport car more than Suv... I would like to buy a cayman or boxster but i can't because when my father come to Usa with my mom and my brother to visit me, how i can picked my family up with a boxster? that its the reason to buy a suv... I like fit and finish of my cayenne, everything is good, but i don't like the engine...
If the porsche dealer offered me the same 57500 like the mb obviously I prefer a Cayenne S... but I don't want to lost a 20%... that was the reason for consider the ml because the mercedes dealer pay me more money... sorry for my bad english, i have only 3 months learning the language.

Did you bring the Cayenne with you from Venezuela? I ask, because that $63,000 price suggests you either loaded up a base Cayenne with $15,000 in options, or that the Cayenne base price in Venezuela is higher than in the US. The latter is the only (legitimate) reason I can think of for such a low offer from the Porsche dealer. For example; I traded a 2011 VW Touareg TDI for my 2013 Cayenne diesel. I paid $48,400 for the Touareg and put 17,000 miles on it. Porsche dealer allowed $40,000 despite the fact there was a dent in the front passenger door. They fixed the dent, then put it on their used car lot for $44,900. So after 17k miles, I got 89.3% of my VW purchase price back in trade. Using that alone as a basis, your Cayenne should be worth $52,066 in trade.

Perhaps you should try another Porsche dealer (?) That said - if you're just buying a family transport vehicle rather than a sport vehicle - that's actually a reason to reconsider the Mercedes.

I'd bet you can get much higher price if you sell it yourself. People are buying used V6's for export to China, should sell quick.

There's been considerable discussion about the integrity of reselling USA-spec Porsche models to China, much less the legality. Although if it's truly a Venezuelan Cayenne, they may have different views on China-dumping

Now that I think about it, if MB can offer that much and Porsche dealer can't, I'd walk away and try Carmax or something. I always got above KBB price through Carmax. Over $10grand difference on a Porsche used car price between these dealers (especially when MB is on the higher end), I'd raise my eyebrow and ask myself, am I in a "right" dealer?

I hope you told Porsche dealer about the price difference. This just simply doesn't make sense whatsoever.
