Clear bra installed - question about quality
Clear bra installed - question about quality
Had clear bra installed on my 2012 black CTT. They did full hood, front bumper and front fenders.
After washing it and taking a close look I see a lot of imperfections. Since this is my first experience with clear bra I'm not sure how critical to be.
There are numerous places with particles under wrap. At first it looks like white lent and when I tried to wipe it off..no go. Looked close with mag lens and it's under the wrap. There is also a couple area where it looks like the film is cracking (very strange). Lastly, the gap sizes vary around open spots (i.e. headlights). One side is a couple mm the other side is probably 7-8mm.
Am I being to picky?

Well its up to you what to do but if it was me I would complain while its fresh and not wait=they will not want to fix if you wait to long.I cant even tell mine is there,he removed headlights to install and then even did the lights themselfs.I had expel ultimate film installed and used authorized installer.
sounds like signs of a poor install, which is fairly common actually.
installers need to clean the car well and install in enclosed area in order to get dusts out of the film.
if you see wrinkles (appear similar to cracks), those can be taken out with a hair dryer or heat gun as long as the film doesn't get too hot. it's a common mistake by a rookie with 1-2 years of install experience.
i would take the car back and have them fix it or do it again. the job you got is probably something worth $1-1.5k so make sure you are satisfied.

thx everyone for feedback
It's nice to hear from people familiar with the process. It seems clear
that the Porsche dealer is trying to perform this task themselves rather than sub it out and they are still learning at the customer's expense.
I'll do as recommended and ask them to do over of find an experienced outside company.

I had park place Dallas tx do the full body install. I wouldn't have even considered having an outside source do it vs them.
They are superior in quality and customer service.
They are mod friendly and always have the best recommendations.
My dealership in CO, I wouldn't even consider them doing it in house. It caries by dealerships what I allow them to do, but the first mentioned above is top notch.
Best

Yes, it does sound abnormal with your install. Here is an example of a similar experience with this Audi R8 owner, who had it initially done through the dealership:

Its sounds like who ever did the work did a sub standard job. i would definately demand that they redo it. Its does take a couple days for it to cure and all the bubbles to disappear, but it sounds like they left the surface dirty when they applied the film. My dealer subs it out, but the guy who does it has a great reputation. I would definately ask who's doing the install.
it really comes down to the individual installer. Sometimes certain companies have a great reputation, and some don't, but in the end, the individual doing the work needs to know exactly what they are doing, have experience doing custom cuts over paint, stretching, curves, etc.
I drove back to TX to have a bumper redone when that person clipped the back left corner in a parking lot. DROVE TO TX from CO.
Sure sure, I am positive I could have found someone local, but when you KNOW he's flawless, I didn't chance anything.
demand a redo.
My entire car is wrapped, and you cannot tell from looking over it from inches away.

Let us know what happens.
Dealers should be held to a higher standard as they are the representative of the manufacturer. I'd bring it to their attention and ask them to do the job right. Most dealers sub this stuff out. Hopefully the installers are a good one and maybe had a rushed day; no excuse still. But give them benefit of doubt as you want a positive relationship with dealer.
My entire job was over $3,000:
Worth every penny
