What Kind of Diesel is everyone using

I am still on my first tank of diesel as only have the SUV for less than a week.

Just wondering what kind of diesel everyone is using. Shell has the regular and the V-Power, but wondering if there is any benefit in paying extra for the vpower.

I'm not sure what "up to -28C" means, but V-Power is Shell's premium diesel. And yes, if it's available in your area, by all means use it. Premium diesel - regardless of whose name is on the pump - is formulated with a higher cetane rating. The dividing line is between regular and premium is arbitrary, I simply try to go with the highest number available when it's time to refuel. I b Shell claims V-power is rated a minimum 51, and typically dispensed around 56-58. Higher is better. By comparison, Shell's regular diesel carries a cetane rating of 46

Unlike gasoline engines where compression ratio determines the recommended level, diesel engines can burn any cetane rating above roughly 40. The higher the number, the cleaner the burn. Cleaner burn = better fuel economy. So even though a higher cetane costs more per gallon, typical drivers find they get more miles per gallon. So despite the higher pump price, higher cetane diesel can result in lower cost per mile.

Unfortunately, not all areas of the US pump premium diesel. Mine is one of them. That said - when I do find Shell V Power - I'll go out of my way to fill up the tank. I carry the below list in my console, so - given a choice - I'll know which station to pull in to.
BP (Amoco branded), 51;
Countrymark fuels Diesel-R,50
Chevron, 49; or 51 with Techron D labels in select markets
ConocoPhillips through the 76 stations (California) 47-53
PetroCanada, 47-51
BP (Powerblend 47, otherwise 40-42)
Shell, 46;
Sinclair, 46;
Sunoco Gold, 45 (often +1-5) Sunoco regular is usually 40.
Exxon/Mobil, 43-46
Holiday Stations, 40-43
HESS, 40-42, can be up to 45.
Husky, 40 + diesel Max additives raise another 1-3 from there (41-45 max)
Love's: 40
Pilot: 40
Valero: 40
Sheetz: 40
Flying J, 40

Thanks Greg
I buy most of my gas at Shell. Will do the same for diesel. I'll go with vpower next time I fill up.
