Towing question

Do I need to get a brake controller or does the cayenne handle that automatically? If I do, any suggestions?

Depending on the size of your trailer, I suspect you will need one.

State laws vary by trailer size and capacity. Porsche says you can tow up to 1650 pounds (trailer + load) without a brake controller. You should abide by which ever weight limit is lower. I occasionally tow up to the max 7700 pounds, but didn't want to go through the gymnastics of installing a conventional controller. The wireless Tekonsha Prodigy RF brake controller - to me - was worth the extra bucks. Plus you can easily swap the whole thing to different trailers and towing vehicles.

On a related note - I was disappointed to discover that LCA is essentially useless when you have a trailer connected.

Since I'm goeing my racecar, I'm definitely over the 1650 lb limit.

That rf unit looks like the way to go, no ugly box to mount under the dash.
