Isn't it bizarre that Porsche and Audi, both of the same corporate parent, can have such a wide discrepancy between their infotainment systems. Why would they not have the identical electronics, with the best German design and German/ Asian electronics, that VW's market power and research organization could muster?

Thanks for the advice. While there is little doubt, IMO, that the CTT is a superior vehicle in most important respects, you certainly get more bang for your buck with the S6. I owned a 2011 BMW 550 IX M sport and, having driven the S6, I can say without a doubt that its a much better vehicle even with the BMW Dinan stage II flash.

Part of decision boils down to the stealth factor of the S6. For professional reasons, the less showy S6 fits my style more. Trust me, it was a very difficlut decison with the Audi dealer and Porsche dealer sitting right next to each other.

Interesting. I have the identical BMW (stealth also; I remove all badges- though whom am I kidding). We need an SUV, which I strongly dislike as a category, so I talked ourselves into the Cayenne. My wife will get the BMW, though she does not like the high belt line of the car. She seems to prefer the S6, which I haven't driven yet. Since we will share driving the sedan, what makes it so much better than the Bimmer?

I also disliked the high belt line AKA "bath tub effect" of the 5, but you adjust to it. The car is heavy and I did not find it much fun to drive. It was fast in a straight line but did not handle well in turns. I also had numerous "bubbles" in the run flats which drove me nuts, as well as drivetrain malfunction issues. I trust that you are familiar with both of these issues. I had a 2008 535xi which, in my opinion, was a much better car. I have test driven the S6 twice and found it much more engaging to drive. I think its largely attributable to the torque vectoring rear differential.
It has a decent exhaust note and a nice engine sound as well. Its also very smooth in addition to being super quick. Keep in mind that it comes with summer performance tires so you will need a winter set up for days like these. (we got 9 inches of snow last night)

I think you will love the Cayenne S.

Try to drive the S6 if you have the opportunity.

In fairness, they haven't exactly been under the same corporate parent for that long. My guess is that for good and bad, parts sharing will likely increase going forward.

Now that was a driver's car
Even though it only had a fourth of the power of my CT

i have both a CS and a S6, ive driven CTT for a weekend and while it is a great car, its not a sports car. its the sportiest suv on thr market. i could have a got a ctt if i wanted, but to me i couldnt justify dropping that much coin on a car that will never be a collectors car. in 5-6 years the 958 ctt will be worth $30-40k just like the older cayennes now. i just went with a well equiped S and its serves its purpose well as our baby hauler. The S6 is no sports car either, its a sporty sedan big enough to seat 4 adults comfortably and its a blast to drive for what it is. infotainment wise, the s6 comes standard with everything, all the usual stuff, plus sirius, voice command, google maps and even its own wifi. its much better than any version of porsches pcm. before i bought the s6, i crossed shopped a panny, 5er, and cls. i ended up with the s6, for me im happy with my choices and dont regret a thing, if i were to drop 130-40k on ctt id rather buy a gt3 and have a real sports car. there are those few who also have everything, ie, gt3, gt2, S class, ferrari, lambo etc already and just want the best model of anything they buy, more power to u. once my kids grown and i dont need bigger cars anymore ill get another 2 door, 2 seater sports car, until then ill make do with what i can.

Well I picked up The S6 today.

I was enjoying the drive home from NJ (this car is quick) when I noticed a NY State Trooper about quarter mile ahead as I was rounding a turn and merging onto the interstate approx 8 miles from my home.....I tried to move into the right lane but someone was next to me...

At that exact moment I experienced a thunderous thud and suddenly knew why the trooper was there...he was assisting two cars that were disabled from hitting a massive pothole. I prayed that my tire would survive but was welcomed to the club about a quarter mile up the road..... I then spent the next two hours on the side of I-684 with a blown front tire and a rim that is probably ruined as well (it was too dangerous to risk changing the tire myself in traffic). At this point, I was actually waxing nostalgic about my BMW run flats. They suck but at least I would have made it home...

I now have a donut on my new S6...

We are off to a bad start...The tire on the CTT would have probably blown as well but I would have never hit that pothole since I would not have been in the area at that time....I am already having a little buyer's remorse!!

Thank goodness I opted for the wheel and tire insurance, it probably just paid for itself..

Sorry to hear your ordeal. Last winter the NJ potholes claimed 3 tires and a rim of my CLS. After that lease was up I gave up and declared NJ roads the winner over the low profile sport tires. With the Cayenne I opted for the smaller, 19" wheels that have more sidewall and take a beating better then the larger sports rubber.

Don't have buyer's remorse. The S6 is a great car just keep an eye out for the road hazards. If it makes you feel better I got a flat tire on the Cayenne the first night of me owning it. I did get the wheel and tire insure and the dealer replaced the tire for me. Since then things are fine. Look at it this way; the blown tire is just a minor hiccup that every new car has. Now you've got that out of the way hopefully you will have trouble free years ahead with your new S6. And don't forget to post some pictures for us...
