2012 CTT or NEW Audi S6
2012 CTT or NEW Audi S6
I ordered a new Audi S6 but came across a CPO 2012 CTT that appears to be a great deal. It has about 20k miles and the sticker was 133k and can purchase for 90k with a second set of wheels and tires for winter set up. Has PTV-Plus but no PDCC
I realize its a good decision to have but also a tough one....and I have to make the decision today or tomorrow as my S6 is waiting at the dealership.
Any thoughts

I think it just depends on what your needs and wants are. I personally think that the Cayenne will have a better resale in a few years, and be more practical to drive.
However, if you have no need for a SUV, then maybe the Audi is your better bet. Its nice to have new cars, I for one buy very little pre-owned cars. In the same breath, I lose more money when I trade them in.
I love having a Cayenne. My wife DD's ours and it is a great vehicle. If CPO, you really have a nice warranty also. Service cost should be about the same. Didn't catch where you live, but the Cayenne is very good in weather. We have a pair of trucks for real snow, but in light snow and rain, the cayenne is a great steady ride. And sits up high enough that you do not get road spray like in a car.
There could even be a little more room in the price of the used CTT once you go there ready to pull the trigger.

I don't know your buying motives, but the fact that you're seriously considering the Audi S6 probably means you need comfortable seating or large cargo capacity. The Cayenne beats the S6 in both and is probably almost as quick.

You know the PDCC is a great option, but I can honestly say that I'm not sure I notice a difference. We had a 12 CTT and a 13 CTT at the same time. The 12 did not have it, and the 13 does.... Now, I will say I thought the 12 was soft on the highway, but I blamed that on the snow tires.
Pepper, may have a valid point. However, if the truck will not be driven in an aggressive manner, you may never need or want it.

CayenneTT in ANY configuration is a much better car, than ANY Audi, except a small one like RS3, maybe, and only if one likes fuel economy sometimes...
More you'll drive CayenneTT, more time you'll spend in one - more you'll UNDERSTAND and appreciate it, as a practical utilitarian "sedan like dynamics" everyday car.
But of course, some may not feel the difference...

This really is an apples and oranges comparison. Both cars are great but for different reasons. I personally would go with the Audi unless I really needed the SUV . The one thing that surprised me when reading this thread is how anti Audi some people are. The reality is Audi has been making some of the best interiors, including seats, in its class. They may not be the best handling cars due to the AWD but its hard to knock the interiors if you are a true enthusiast.
Either way, have fun with your new ride.

To the OP, someone... maybe you? asked a similar question on one of the Audi boards. The truth is they're both excellent vehicles.
The CTT is an absolute monster for any vehicle, let alone an SUV. And you're getting the benefit of having someon else take some of the initial depreciation. But to me, the PDCC is a must have on any Cayenne and if you don't need the extra ground clearance, do you really need the extra weight and increase fuel usage of the P car?
On the street, both vehicles are going to have excellent handling and real world performance which isn't that different. The steering in the Audi isn't as good, IMO, but then the lower ride height, much better infotainment and reduced weight offset some, if not all, of that for me. The higher seating position of the Cayenne is a real plus as is the availability of the panaramo roof (really opens up the interior). But the way I drive, the real world fuel mileage between the two would be pretty big and as silly as it may seem to worry about that on a $90,000 vehicle... it would bother me.
If you're not going to tow, not going off road, and don't need the ability to put stuff on the roof I have to wonder whether an SUV is really the way to go.
Just my 2 cents.
That was me. When I was at Audi they had a 2013 GTS that was traded in the day before. I drove it but passed because it did not have PTV or PDCC. I then started looking at lightly pre-owned CTTs.
We need one SUV and my wife was thinking about an Audi Allroad..so I was thinking that she could get the Audi and I would look at a CTT or new RR. Love the RR interior and lighter weight but not the exterior.
I wanted some insight from the Porsche folks here as some people seemed to bash the CTT having too much turbo lag and not being responsive...
Bottom line is that I am picking up the S6 on Saturday.

Apples and oranges comparison perhaps..
Yet,a pertinent question that led to some pretty cool reviews
What I don't get,is why there is not more of an exchange of ideas in the VAG group..Porsche does driving dynamics like no other, but their navigation and cabin tech..mehhhhh
Audi nav unit is #1 by far
Still, and trust me when I state that I have taken it pretty close to its limits,my slightly modified 2011CT never ceases to amaze me by how effortlessly and elegantly it handles..courtesy of PDCC,PSM and PTV+
Ps:my incognito car is a 2001 A6 I bought new and still have
All the best with your S6,I have no doubt it will be a blast..and yes,I also look forward to your impressions
