Replacing Steering Wheel with a heated one

I just installed a new heated steering wheel on my 2013 Cayenne Diesel without a heated one.

Now I found out the hard way that there are no wires on the clockspring for the heated connector. I was wondering if anyone has changed out a clockspring on a 2011 and newer Cayenne? I am not sure if the heated wheel simply needs 12V. So if I change out the clockspring, could I simply put 12V on the connector that goes to the heated connector?

You probably need software reprogram for the heated steering, because when you switch on/off the heated steering, there is a message displayed on the round LCD screen.

Curious if you ever got this to work. It looks like getting the right clockspring might do the trick.

You also need the proper software for the heated steering to work. Because the switch is a momentary contact switch, not a mechanical on/off switch, as you cannot tell from the switch if the heated steering is on or off.

That's right. I saw the coding in the PIWIS for both multifunction and for heated steering. At this point, I'm wondering if someone has done this already.

my car does not have multifunction steering wheel, so I can just buy a steering wheel with multifunction and have the dealer code it?

You need codes to activate buttons, heating, cruise. Looks same like open pcm features. But still no way to obtain codes. May be features will works, may be not - who will try? Any case steering column module should be replaced if heating retrofitted.
And as I know some companies install not original heating in different cars, so if you have wires in steering wheel and free connectors in spring - you can connect heating not in original manner.
