PCM Map Question

Under the maps options, you can select 3D for your map viewing. I selected it and under the area where you can select day/night/automatic, I chose automatic but the map is always showing under night settings even though I'm driving during the day. Unless I physically select day, the day setting will never show up. Does anyone have the same issue?

Weird... mine only shows night if the headlights are on. Any connection there?

Scroll through other PCM options... you may have something else turned on/off.

Apparently this stuck-in-night-sky is a Canadian-only issue and affects only 2013 models. This was told by my dealer when I reported this problem to them shortly after i picked up my Cayenne S in Feb. They say they are still waiting for solution from Porsche to fix the bug. Perhaps if more owners report this, they might speed things up, otherwise, Canada is a relatively small market to Porsche and they will just put things in the back burner.

Mines a 2011 Cayenne S and I've gone through all the options from the map setting along with changing my headlight switch and it still shows it under "night mode" during the day while I have it on automatic. Does any other member (Canadian) have the same issue?

Actually not just on the 3-D view, the regular map also fails to automatically change between light color(daytime view) and dark color(nighttime view). I am surprised not too many Canadian owners notice it.

Well, at least winter is coming and it'll be dark up there most of the time anyhow.

I am able to confirm that 2012 models also have this issue. I am surprised that not many owners noticed it. It is probably a simple software fix but only if Porsche is willing to do it.

Perhaps someone who has a 2014 Canadian Cayenne can confirm if the issue has been fixed?

I checked on a 2014 Cayenne and the same problem persists. Therefore, all Canadian Cayenne 958s are affected, from 2011 to 2014. Maybe since our market is so small, Porsche Germany doesn't care about resolving our issues.

Do Canadian DOT requirements require daytime headlights be full on? On are just the LED daytime marker lights enough in Canada?

On my 2013 Cayenne GTS, it's the full headlights being switched on that kicks in the night-time PCM map display mode. You can see the map display switch between day & night mode if you drive through a tunnel or into an underground parking garage that causes the auto headlights to turn on.

If Canada requires full headlights at all times, that might be the software logic that causes your full night-time mode on the display.

Canadian laws require day time lights, in Porsche case, only the LEDs need to be on. Even if I manually switch the headlights on and off, the map screen does not cycle through the day/night view.

Are your headlights on the "auto" setting?
