I was just thinking about your ride the other day. Sorry to hear of the delay(s). Maybe your shop will surprise you and will get it done ahead of expectations!

Can't wait to see more pics of the work.

Swung by to get pics of the lights. He's actually moved the car for the first time in over a month and swears he should get it done this week (I'm not turning purple over it though).

Here are some side by side pics of the head and tail lights in case anyone is curious about the differences. I was expecting the tails to be a bit darker than they are.

Can't wait to see it all put together.

Hey Gnat,
The front lights are a big difference- love em.
Sorry to hear that you are being tortured for so long

Thanks. It will be worth it when its finally done. That's what I have to remember.

Besides, while 3 months out of 1.25 years of ownership is a lot, I plan to have it a long time and the 3 months will be a drop in the bucket

Agreed. I find it impossible to think of ever being without this masterpiece.

It's actually going back together!

And that stupid silver strip on the bottom of the tailgate is gone

But with all the parts that had to be ordered he missed the fog lights and front spoiler so there will be some more waiting

That sucks! What front spoiler are you having installed? How far back does this push you out before getting your car back?

It's not really a spoiler, that's just what the part is labeled as and it's actually the same piece for both bumper types. It's the beginning piece of the under tray that attaches to the bumper.

The ETA depends on where the parts have to ship from I guess. If they are all here in the US then I'd expect he'd have them next week. If they have to come from Germany then it might be awhile...

At this point I might actually get it back in time to plan a trip to my parents in FL for the last week of the month which nicely coincides with maxing out my PTO...

Unfortunately I'm in a class the first half of the week next week so if it is ready before Thursday I'll have to suffer knowing that it is ready but I can't get it!

Another teaser pic. I'm starting to feel like it's been kidnapped and I'm getting ransom notes

They are calling for up to 12" on Wed/Thurs so I figure that means it will be Fri before it's done at the earliest to continue the pattern of driving the 996 in all the bad weather this winter!

Damn I just got a notice this morning from the insurance that they've issued another $2500 supplement. So glad I didn't listen to that detailer...

Last night he said it was all back together and they just needed to do a final buff. He claims I can pick it up today, but we'll see

Finally! The ordeal is over and I have my baby back.

And damn if she doesn't look fine

Here are some shots of the final product.

Edit: Thanks to ECS for all their help getting the bumper parts. Turns out it was not quite the bolt on swap that others have said, but its on and looks wonderful.
