Cayenne Production moving to Slovakia
Hello,
I Don`t spend much time on here but I found this thread looking for the press release concerning this matter and I would like to point out that the Cayenne bodies are already completely (painted, interior installed etc etc) assembled in Slovakia. The only thing that happens in Leipzig is tha "marraige" of the drive line to the car. So really not much is changing.

Just to summarize, the original procedure was to make the Cayenne rolling chassis at the VW Touareg plant in Bratslavia. It was then shipped to Leipzig to be repleted as a Cayenne. With the introduction (and popularity) of the Macan, Leipzig is now being totally dedicated to producing that line. Hence full production of the Cayenne will be done at Bratslavia.

Let me make sure I understand your issues.
Some of you believe that a company as successfully run and as technologically advanced as Porsche (yes, now a division of VW, the world's 3rd largest auto company.....ahead even of Ford)
Really?
You all know your iPhones are made in China, right?
Some of you believe that a company as successfully run and as technologically advanced as Porsche (yes, now a division of VW, the world's 3rd largest auto company.....ahead even of Ford)
- Is simply going to turn over the assembly of the Cayenne to a bunch of unskilled laborers who don't know how to use a screwdriver?
- That no experienced current workers in Leipzig will transfer to Bratislavia to be integrated into the line and also supervise?
- That none of the high technology assembly line capabilities seen in any current Porsche production videos will be built in Bratislavia and workers will instead assemble Cayennes in a pre-WWII factory with a leaky roof and bad lighting.
- That Porsche is just "hoping" that quality will be as good or "almost" as good, without already knowing what the answer is?
- That a company so sophisticated that it has actually hedged their debt and Marks vs. Dollars as a way to smooth out new car price and exchange rate fluctuations is being stupidly naive and people like you will stop buying their #1 car because they will know it's made in Slovakia?

BMW's are made in Southafrica and the quality control has been rated above germany. i would have to find the stats again, but the number of defects were almost 10% less than the germans.. so maybe we should not call this to quick
