I would look at the GTS as the equivalent to the 991 GT3. It is the sportiest Cayenne they make.

If you've driven a Cayenne, Cayenne S or Turbo with air suspension on comfort mode, that is the most comfortable daily driver. The GTS has a different rebound setting and a lower ride height with more compressed air making ride a bit more uncomfortable but the handling out of this world.

Before I got my P4S ( Second one coming from PTT Turbo), I had owned the F10 550I Msport, E63 AMG, S63, and had cross shopped the , Tesla, S6, S7,S8, F10 M5, and the CLS63.

All these cars had different things going for it and it came down to Tesla, S6 and the CLS for me. I felt the F10 felt just too heavy and even lethargic at times. The AMG's felt like a bat out of hell with so much torque down on the low end but the interior felt really dated. The S6 was a great car but felt too understated to me. The Tesla is great but I was told by the sales rep that on a hot day with the AC blasting, I might be able to do 250 miles out of it on a single charge. Some days, I do very close to that figure which would get me nervous about running out of battery.... That led me back to the Panamera.

That is an interesting journey of car comparison. That sounds like a blast to do all that fact finding.
I see the Tesla S and just love the looks and always wondered what it would be like to drive one. cool stuff.

That's very good perspective. Thank you. We tend to pay cash and own forever. My DD has 290k miles on it (e39 m5) and wife's DD (e46 wagon) has 200+ on it. Having never owned a Porsche and with kids that drive in about 6 years I hope we can own the CD for 5-6 years and then re-evaluate our cars.

Our hesitation with the Tesla was the charging as well. I think we are five years away from a usable Tesla. My biggest hesitation/worry with the CD is the fuel and cleanliness of the pumps.

Out of curiosity has anyone driven the Quattroporte?

Thanks for all the feedback, hope you all don't mind the questions.

Some are worse than others. The upside of a station that gets a lot of truck traffic is that you don't have to worry about stagnant fuel, but the downside is that they tend to be messier.

I've heard some people carry a box of latex gloves to use, but I just grab some paper towels to wrap around the handle.

You need to watch where you step too or you can track it back in. That would be another good reason to try to beat up your dealer for the all weather floor mats (hard plastic/rubber) to replace the "plush" mats with as they are easier to clean and don't seem to hold the smell as bad. The other reason is that the carpet mats are just garbage (mine were already wearing through at 4500ish miles...).

As diesel POVs proliferate in the US, the stations may eventually adopt the German filling station policy of providing courtesy disposible gloves at the pumps. Until then, I too just grab a paper towel or two with which to operate the diesel dispensing nozzle. In my part of the country tho, nearly all truck stops have POV diesel pumps right alongside the gasoline pumps. Definitely a lot cleaner underfoot there than in the big rig section.

Haven't driven the Quattroporte but did try the Ghibli. Drives well, sounds great. The electronics are not as nice as the BMW/Audi as well as Porsche. My main concern, especially for someone like you who keeps their cars for a long time, would be reliability.

The Tesla probably is fine unless you need to go up hills in the winter (rear wheel drive only) or drive long distances since the battery performance is much worse in cold weather.
