Cayenne Hybrid SUCKS!!!! DO NOT BUY IT!

Dear All,
I have recently purchased a 2012 Cayenne Hybrid. The car has a sticker price of over $96,000.00 and There is nothing but problems after problems.

1- The transmission has serious issues when driving on 5th gear and 8th gear, when the RPM hits around 1800 the car started to have this low pulsing drone noise. This usually happen around 35-40 MPH and between 70-80mph.
2- when the car warmed up in city driving, you can actually feel like someone bumped you from behind when the car shifts from 3rd gear down to 2nd gear when approaching a stop sign.

I have reported this problem to my dealer Porsche of Fairfield and they have no idea on how to fix this problem other than changing a TCU. After the TCU was replaced it was still doing the same thing.
They reported the problem to PNA district service technician name RON HERRICK and Ron said everything is normal just like other cars, it suppose to make that droning noise.

ARE YOUR F*&king KIDDING ME? I ask them to put it down in writing and so far they have not show me anything yet.

3- On one of the coldest night here in New York, my wife and I went out to a restaurant and as I roll down the window to check my parking, the window gear motor and the actuator broke. We had to cancel dinner and go home while the next day at 18 degree weather I had to drive 65 miles to go back to Porsche of Fairfield with my window down.

There are a only a few things in my life that I regret, buying a Porsche Cayenne Hybrid is definitely on the top of that list.

Please tell your friends, DO NOT BUY A CAYENNE HYBRID and DON'T GET YOUR CAR SERVICE AT PORSCHE OF FAIRFIELD! you don't want to make the same mistake I did.

I have purchased www.cayennehybridsucks.com and will be posting video of this piece of crap soon.
Stay tuned!
Thanks for reading.

Sorry to hear that. I know how you feel with a vehicle that is just not right. Hopefully Porsche will sort it out for you. Keep us posted.

Test drive

I don't own one, but I drove one for a couple of days as a loaner and loved it. I was amazed at the power. I never heard any droning noise. I'll be interested to see if other owners have had the same experience you have.

Not a Hybrid, but I've experienced the rough downshifting in my CD. Scared the crap out of me the first time because I was in heavy traffic and thought someone did hit me (the guy behind me was about a car length back when I looked up). I brought it up with the dealer last time I was in and it happens less now, but still does it. I think they either re-flashed one of the control units or reset the transmissions learned pattern.

The diesel car is amazing, they gave me a loaner car for a few days and it average about 30-35 miles per gallon. Great car!

That is the thing, I have only driven 1 other hybrid that I was going to purchase, however if you don't spend some time in the car you will not notice any special noise like mine until you drive the car for a while.
Something like a low droning issue is something rarely anyone can spot it during a test drive without knowing what you are looking for.
I will go to other dealers and try out other hybrids my self as well, after all why should I take Ron Herrick's word that they are all like that...right?
Thanks

When they gave me a Diesel as a loaner I did not feel anything like what I have on my car. They did flash my TCU, in fact they changed it and it still does the same thing.

watch this video and you will see what I am talking about, it's not a great clip and please make sure you put on your headphone. I shot this out of frustration so my Iphone would have to do for now.

Just took another video for you, this one is longer and may show you the bump better between 3-2 down shift. Make sure you put on a pair of good headphone.

^ that's a better video. A bit difficult to catch it the first time but I think I know what you mean by the "bump."

As someone mentioned above, I never owned a hybrid to tell you if that's normal or not but if you can drive another hybrid and can find what you are looking for, it's the "hybrid" thing and Ron might be right.

I've been in other hybrids and never noticed the transition. That seems a bit strange. Keep us posted on what you find. Good luck.

I hope Porsche will fix it for you. You might also want to look into the lemon law in your state if they can't fix it for you!
