*Need Help* Need More Comfort in my Suspension

Hello,

We just purchased a 2012 Cayenne for my wife. We recently had a little one so we had to upgrade from our MB E class. Our Cayenne is the base model so it didn't come with the PASM. WIth that being said, I didn't realize the Cayenne's suspension is really stiff. We can feel every bump and the ride is very stiff. Since my wife mainly sits in the back with the little one, I am looking to see if there are any alternatives to the suspension that can make it a bit more "Back Seat Passenger" friendly.

I would like to hear other owners who have the same issue and thoughts.

THanks~

That would be my first question. I have the base 18s on the steel suspension and don't find it hard at all. I've read others say that 20+ gets a bit rough though.

If you already have 18s, check and lower your tire pressure some if they aren't too low already. You might also look into tires that are more comfort oriented.

Also keep in mind that this is a performance oriented SUV and as such it's suspension is by definition stiff than it's competition which is what lets it corner and handle so well. It's not for everyone.

Maybe next time test drive a car before buying it?

If new tires don't do the trick you could look into adjustable coilovers and set them soft. That's $$$ though.

Of course I test drove the car before buying it. You can get a sense of the ride driving it 15-20 minutes which at the time thought was ok, but when your sitting in the back as a passenger rather than the driver, it is different. May have to go with the CO's.

I'll trade you my 18" stock wheel. LOL just kidding.

I have always regretted not getting the turbo wheels. But seeing how much my buddy pays for his replacement tires and how bumpy it rides, I think I'll stick with the stock for a while.

You need to go to 18's and find a tire with a lower load rating to have sidewalls not as stiff. Also lowering your tire pressure helps too. Would I recommend doing a lower load rating and lowering pressure under OEM specs...absolutely not. But I think that is the only way you will get a softer ride.
