Thanks tged, I see what you mean about the spot, but the engine is more important than the rear ac, maybe on the mid-cycle change will do something about this. After reading of the stuff talked about, I may hold out for the mid cycle and see what they have done. Wife may just have to drive the 550 around for a while longer.

I doubt it. My understanding (though I haven't seen the two side by side where I could pull out seats and look) is that the DPF storage tank and related bits use some of the same spaces as the second AC compressor. They'll hopefully address this in the next model if they think sales in the DPF markets warrant it, but it would likely be too much of a chassis change for a mid-cycle change.

My kids kick the crap out of the rear seats/console etc... already busted the tab off of one of the vents, can't imagine what they'd do to the climate buttons back there if there were any.

BTW- Just did a 400mile trip in my GTS and averaged 18.5mpg... enjoy those diesels! I'm pretty sure my next SUV will have one.

I dread the day my boy's legs are long enough to really get good kicks in. Might be some other kicking in though if he harms my baby!

I know it lies, but the PCM claimed almost 34MPG over 80 miles for a trip into and through the city last night and that was without my tuner box installed

I'm late to the conversation, but another vote for the Cayenne Diesel. I echo all that has been said above. I'll add that I use it as my DD and as my primary tow vehicle for my 911 to the track. I tow a 20' enclosed Featherlite and total weight with car is ~6600 lbs. I've been very impressed with towing. I have the air suspension which I'd get again in a heartbeat especially if towing. Love the torque too.

I do wish it had the 4 zone climate though. Not so much for the added A/C ability but really more to control the rear air flow. My kids (college aged) complain it's too cold in summer and too hot in winter and they want to shut off or manage the temp for their section. Fortunately they don't ride with us much so it's not a big issue, but it would be nice to have.

I'd buy it again if I was in the market.
