Instructions For Air Filter Change Please - 3.0 D

Hi all

Does anyone have the instructions to help me change the air filter on my 3.0 D please?

I know the location etc. but wonder about special steps that may make the job a pain for example?

Thanks

Carl

I assume you are talking about the diesel?

If so then you just need to pull the engine cover off and the side cover that is over the airbox. Then there are a couple of clips that pop off (they are attached so you won't lose them). Its kind of tight as I recall, but you can then get the filter out and back in.

Hi gnat

Yes the diesel. I looked at the engine and noticed the air box is close to the side of the engine and had this very problem with my Q7 4.2 TDI V8, so much so that the only way of removing the filter was tearing it up when getting it out.

I want to have the option to take the filter out easily because I'm going to fit a BMC filter (after great results with engine feel / response and reduced diesel noise in the Audi) and then take it out come service time as UK dealer will use it against me for sure, is this type of easy removal going to be a pain?

Thanks

If its a drop in replacement I don't see why not. As I said, its a bit tight, but i've gotten mine in and out just fine. I would suggest doing it when you aren't in a hurry so you can be patient with it if you are concerned.

Changed the filter for a BMC one today, it was a bit tight and fiddly like you suggested but not as bad as the Q7 I did a couple of months back.

The paper filter was very dirty l suspect the original and glad I changed it even though the 60k service includes it and will be due in 5k miles. I'm going to buy a genuine one and let Porsche fit it come service time to keep up the extended warranty.

Thanks for helping gnat

Carl
