Hello Everyone,

I've been "lurking" on this forum for some time and I think I'm ready to get my first Porsche. We are looking are replacing our 12' ML63 AMG with a CTT or CTTS. Because the CTTS is a 14' the final pricing between the 2 is very close. I understand the 15' has some updates overall but given my position what would you do?

The 14' CTTS is going for about $145k (Sticker is $167) and a 15' would be about $135k - $140k.

The 14'CTTS (Basic options)
- Black
- Sport Design
- Pano Roof
- Burmester
- Carbon Fiber Interior

15' CTT (Basic Options)
- Premium Package Plus
- Sport Chrono
- PTV Plus
- PDCC
- Adaptive Sport Seats
- Burmester

Thanks for your input.

I vote for the '15 because of the performance options and the premium plus package.

I went from a '12 ML63 to a '14 Cayenne GTS. The Cayenne is simply better (drives better and is built to a higher level) although the ML has more storage space and I got a lot of attention at gas stations and parking lots.

Enjoy!

The CTTS comes with a lot of options that are standard which are add-ons for the CTT. For example, PDCC, PTV Plus, Sports Chrono and 18 way seats were are standard options on the CTTS where as they are add-ons for the CTT.

The real difference between the 2 builds comes down to the Sports Design kit ($5600) and the Premium Package Plus ($3700). There were no packages on the CTTS, everything was a la carte so you need to check the CTTS option list to see if it includes
  1. Comfort Lighting - optional on CTTS
  2. Park Assist/Reverse Camera - optional on CTTS
  3. Front seat ventilation - optional on CTTS
  4. LED headlights (PDLS Plus) - LED are new for 2015
  5. Keyless Entry - optional on CTTS
  6. Rear power sunblinds - optional on CTTS
  7. Pano roof - your CTTS build has this also
  8. LCA - optional on CTTS

With that said, the premium plus package has some very nice things that can't be added on afterwards, where as you can always add the OEM or a after market sports kit (Techart, Vorsteiner, etc).

If it were me, I would probably go with the 2015 if they are the same price. But the dealer might be more motivated to discount the 2014that is on the lot because of the similarity in price.

Overall agree with HOiYA ^^ w/ an edit or two...

The 18-way seats are standard on both, so that's really a non-issue

Additionally a couple big items not yet mentioned...

--The 2015 CTT has that beautiful new steering wheel.
--The 2014 CTTS will be slower and consume more fuel day to day.

I was considering a leftover 2014 CTTS a few weeks back but since decided against.
Instead, I'm going to enjoy mine, mod it and hold off for another year or two.

Agreed, the new wheel is awfully nice!

Are you calling my CTTS slow!?
But seriously, the 2014 CTTS has 550hp/553 lb-ft (top speed 177mph) The 2015 CTT has 520hp/553 lb.-ft (top speed 173mph). With a GIAC tune you'll get even more out of both of these. I'll let someone better versed in the engine differences chime in.

As for fuel consumption, you don't by either of these to sip gas! Have a look at my fuelly numbers in my signature.

Haha...Neither are slow - don't get me wrong!
The way i understood the new refresh CTT is faster than the 985.1 and more fuel efficient.
However, the new mpg numbers for the 2015 are not officially out yet.

The way i understand the speed situation...

--Your CTTS is evidently, 4.3 seconds 0 - 60 and mine is 4.4 seconds.

--The new CTT is 4.1 seconds 0-60.

It looks like they shaved off 420lbs. Maybe that accounts for the faster acceleration. But in all honesty, I'm not going to notice the difference.

Curb weight
- CTTS --> 5237 lbs
- CTT --> 4817 lbs

Thanks for the great feedback. It looks like I'll be moving on with a 15' CTT. I'll post pics when I get it.

Best.

Congrats!
A 2015 seems like the optimal way to go.
Spend less, get a year newer, and get the latest technology out?
Almost a no brainer.

The only reason i was considering a leftover 2014 CTTS is thinking that i could get one for near 20% off.
That would significantly take a bite out of the huge initial depreciation they receive the minute you drive off the lot.
This was the only way i could convince myself a year old Cayenne would be worth it.

Don't get me wrong, the CTTS is a spectacular vehicle with huge standard performance options (PDCC and PTV).
In all honesty, i tell HOiYA that his CTTS w/ PCCB with the long list of sweet mods has got to be one of the finest in the country.

Look forward to hearing more on your upcoming purchase.
Good luck!

By the way, thanks for posting that HOiYA.
I was unaware of the weight difference from the refresh.
That's more significant than i thought it would be.

Based on that, i would guess that much of the 0-60 speed can be attributed to the weight savings.
At first, i was thinking it was more tuning and added HP/torque in the refresh.
It's really some of each.
