If you hit up the configurator, you see the new PCM, so one would guess it would have Apple CarPlay capabilities.

I can help you do it twice cheaper, but you still need piwis to activate feature before upload new maps.

Oops I meant model year 2016 (i.e., I bought mine in May 2015)? Wondering if the existing PCM will be able to be upgraded to CarPlay.

Mine is a '15 also, but I highly doubt we'll be able to get CarPlay on our vehicles, the new 16's have a totally different unit, don't think it'll be plug and play either.

on PCM 3.1 imo no chance to get car play.
But new headunit, PCM 4.0 can be installed.
we did it on 991.
Price now starting from ~ 9000$((
Cayenne promises same figure.

Out of curiosity would the PCM 4.0 work on a 2013/4 952.1 Cayenne?

It works on 991 2014. I think cayenne will be same.
