Infant car seat recommendations
Infant car seat recommendations
I bought my wife an S-hybrid and she is due to expand our family in September. She loves the car and is worried about the leather while we are looking at infant seats. I have seen many wear the leather underneath them terribly and would like to find a seat that will not tear the leather up. Anyone have experience with a good seat in the back of these that won't rub the leather raw? Looking at the Porsche seat but it is a lot to drop on a seat. We will if its the best option but hoping there is a good alternative.
Thanks
Tom

I have had the Porsche seat and Britax seats in several cars including my cayenne with out issues. You do put one of those mats underneath car seat to protect it either way so it can't really do any harm. I take it out every time a clean/protect the leather and you can't tell a seat was ever there.
We used an Orbit seat for our son, but anything should fit back there as there is plenty of space.
Rubbing in either the rear or forward facing seats should not be an issue. If you have them installed correctly they aren't moving at all. When you get to a booster that will be a bit different as it isn't anchored.
As C4SxM5 suggests, get an under pad. It helps protect and also contain messes. We used a wool pad to start with though we stopped using it a long time ago as he has proven to not be messy.
One thing I would suggest, however, is to remove the seat at least once a week and leaving it out for a day or so. Ideally change which side of the vehicle it is installed on or swap between cars regularly. As tight as they need to be installed they compress the cushions pretty good. After 3 months of being installed it took a couple of weeks before I couldn't see the indentations in the seat bottom anymore.

Congrats on junior !
We got something called a sunshine kids ultra mat. According to Amazon this is the replacement version. We use isofix car seats that bolt to the chassis mounts, and as you say they mount the seats really tight. In 6 years these mats have protected the leather rear seats of our cayenne and Range Rover sport leaving no marks nor indentations. This links to the uk site FYI, I'm sure you can find them on your side of the pond !
