985 CTT Look Exhaust Tips On Ebay - Anyone Done This
Hi all
There are plenty of sellers listing Turbo look exhaust tips on eBay but all seem to be China etc. and communication is strained as expected. Has anyone bought tips like these and had good results with OEM style fit up, good durability etc. please?
I used black plasti dip to coat mine and it worked perfectly. No problem after 6 months and very inexpensive. Some have their tips powder coated which looks great.
I have the standard single exit tips on mine and wanted the 4 tips like the Turbo but without paying mega bucks (well pounds) for the Sports tips from Porsche.
I've ordered it from ebay for around 280$ shipped. I was surprised by the nice quality of the exhaust tips. Just make sure what type you get. Long pipe vs short pipe. The short ones fit the V8 and V6 petrol. The long pipes fits the Diesel.
And about the price I checked and it seems the prices has gone up.

Thats the only picture I have that shows the tips. I installed it on the day I got the car, and till this day it shows no signs of wear.
I ordered my quart exhaust tip from bullet autosports, and their built quality is top notch. I am very happy with how the rear looks and there is no signs of wear after half a year. Hope my information helps on your decision and here is the photo:
That looks very nice, they seem to sit further in that the picture from Matt911, is that the case?
The price from bullet is much higher than eBay and the items look the same, may pull the trigger on the black ones now Ive seen them, but my car is black so may end up invisible so to speak?
Just installed a pair of black quad exhaust tips off of eBay. I ordered the "long style" based on the description stating that they were compatible with the V6 models. Unfortunately, this is not the case - the V6 models use the rear most exhaust outlet from the muffler (the muffler has two exhaust outlets, one that is capped towards the front).
Doing some research, it appears that the front outlet is actually selectively opened up in the Porsche Sports Exhaust (PSE), when the valve is in the open position.
Rather than paying for the cost of shipping these back, I went down to the local muffler shop and had them install them. This involved cutting open the other outlet, welding the stock fitting onto it, and then capping the rearward outlet where the stock tips used to route off of.
Result? The sound is much more aggressive from the rear, but indistinguishable from stock from within the cabin. Guessing by the sound, this second outlet bypasses much of the baffling, allowing for more of the exhaust note to come through. Pretty awesome mod using the stock muffler.
As far as the tips are concerned - they are fabricated from steel and appear to be coated or sprayed with black to give it the darker color. Interestingly enough, despite being shipped from China, both tips read "Made in Germany." Slightly dubious on these claims, but the fitment seems spot on. One thing to note - the stock tips on the V6 and V8 Cayenne's (non turbo) appear to be held on by a C-clamp at the exhaust outlet. The stock tips are aluminum and very light. The eBay tips are steel and quite heavy, so there's going to be more load/stress on the c-clamp. I assume this is a non-issue with the Fabspeed tips being constructed similarly.
Here's a video of the sound on YouTube. The Cayenne is rev limited to 4,000 rpm in neutral. Will try to get a better clip. My wife did not know how to properly revv the car up. I think she thought she was hurting the car. =)
Modification of the stock V6 muffler - cap the rear outlet, and tap the exhaust tip from the front exhaust outlet. (Drivers side muffler view)

i bought a complete cat back exhaust shipped from china for 225 with the most
beautiful welds ive seen in quite a while. there is crazy slave made stuff coming
out of china, and the shipping?
they can literally dump stuff over here for nothing somehow.
"Do it again, Honey.............WOW!"
I want it done to me too!
OK, all kidding aside, that muffler mod does sound hot!
Unfortunately, I bought the 'correct' dual round tips, so must figure out how to modify muffler to utilize the fore muffler hole, and cap the aft hole.
Art--would love to hear a longer/higher rev and acceleration sound video of your mod.
btw, nice digs!

Do you have a link to where you bought the tips?
Also, do you recommend the short ones for the mod to the front outlet on the exhaust?
Can you take a pic of the finished job on your muffler?
Lastly, can you record more of the exhaust sound?
