Cel after loose gas cap?
Cel after loose gas cap?
Hello, question on cel,
After getting gas, car gave me a message loose gas cap/check engine. I tightened the gas cap, so the first message went away, but cel stayed. What should i do? Drive around for a bit? Disconnect the battery? There are no porsche dealers in my state...

Disconnecting the battery will do you absolutely no good. OBD-II codes are stored in NVRAM (ie - they don't go away if the power is removed.)
If your state (North Dakota? - from your other message sounds rather cold wherever you are) has an Autozone or other big-box chain parts store - they usually will read and clear codes for you for free in the hope that you'll buy parts to fix whatever they find.
And yes - the CEL will eventually reset itself - it takes # drive-cycles (where I believe # is 6, but it might be different) - a drive-cycle is start-cold/run/get-warm/shutdown.
