Wasn't planning ot it but bought the 958! Some questions

Hello.

I was going to buy a Ford Explorer 2016/17 but found a great deal on a 2013 Cayenne in amazing condition with low mileage so picked it up. Totally loving the car but had a couple of questions

1) The car doesn't lock itself when I exit with the key. Is there an option to do that?

2) The boot isn't automatic but I have a boot icon on the key which doesn't really do anything except switch the lights

3) I know the tail lights changed in 2015 model but what are the difference between 2013 and 2014 models? Anything significant?

I'm sure I'll have more questions! Barely been with it for a day and am in love with it. Is there any "tips & tricks" thread that highlights some hidden features? I have the base model with software version 4.41

Don't know how the keyless systems operate, sorry.

You should be able to open the hatch with the button on the key or the one on the driver's door console.

You have to physically press the button on the bottom of the tailgate to close it though.

If the remote isn't opening the hatch for you, then something is wrong.

Much more than just the taillights changed for MY15

Part of the answer to your question depends on when your MY13 was built as there were some late changes for November builds.

There are threads around that detailed the difference from 13 to 14 at the time, but off the top of my head the big change was to the PCM adding the jukebox function (has a HDD you can load music to). I think there was also some rearranging of buttons on the console/doors that happened too.

Thanks- I do have a Jukebox option on the car- through haven't gotten to it yet.

There is no button to open the boot in the car though- unless I'm missing the obvious! Where should I be looking?

Means your's was built in 11/2012 or later. Mine was built in 10/2012

The other thing the Jukebox gives you is album art which was not available on earlier PCMs.

I almost never use it so I can't tell you exactly, but it's on the driver's door with the window and mirror control buttons. I *think* it's at the "bottom" end (most rearward), but (again) I don't remember for sure.

It is one of the buttons that has moved around between model years if I remember correctly (I think it was on the center console for MY11 and early 12 and then moved to the door for late 12 through 14).

The button is the bottom right on the driver's door control panel on mine.

Looks like I don't have that- just have one empty button next to child lock which I'm assuming is used for that.

Does Dubai go by model years like the US or build years like the EU? If it's the later, then you probably have what us in the US call a 14 and that would make sense based on your pic.

Try looking on the center console as I believe that is where it moved for (what the US calls) MY14. I *think* it should be towards the top between the shifter and PCM, but I'm not positive.

There are a few buttons above the gear but nothing about the boot. Picture attached. The guy I bought it from said he got the car in Aug 2013. What other signs can I look at that distinguish the 13 model from the 14.

Thanks.

Here are a couple of shots of my 2014 GTS. Surprised you don't have a power liftgate. I think all of the 2013 models I drove had it as well. Maybe country or trim level specific.

Could definitely be a country to country thing- oh well it's not that big of a deal. Does your model support auto locking of doors when you exit the vehicle? I have to manually lock them either with the FOB or the button on the handle.

Aug 2013 would definitively be what we call MY14 here in the US.

That's really weird about the lack of the button. Best I can suggest at this point is to as a dealer. I know some options vary from region to region, but that seems like an odd thing to not have...

I honestly just push the button on the door handle to lock when I get out. Will have to check the manual to see if it can auto lock. Wouldn't surprise me.
