Cayenne Turbo vs Range Rover SVR
Cayenne Turbo vs Range Rover SVR
I am thinking about trading my 2014 PTTS for a RR SVR or another CTT ( have had 4). I think I would like something different then the CTT, so I may go with the RR SVR. Any thoughts? Am I going to be sorry?
Different animals entirely. The Cayenne is not as much a SUV as it's a luxury performance car that handles well. The RR doesn't handle but it's an off road beast. I have the 2012 RR Sport SC and it's nowhere near as fast as the Cayenne. I can get it to about 115-120 and really don't feel comfortable going any faster. However, that thing will go everywhere off road. I have oil properties and I have taken both it and the Cayenne out there and I wouldn't dare take the Cayenne down the same roads I took the RR. Not just because it might get scratched but because it would likely not have the clearance or the ability to get through some of the heavy ruts. Same thing out in the muddy roads of the piney woods of East Texas. The RR just cruises through deep mud ruts like they were puddles, the Cayenne would need a tow truck and it's never sniffed the woods. The RR has nice appointments and it's OK on road trips but it's just not what the Cayenne is in terms of appointments. Now of course I don't have the AB or even the premium interior and it's a 2012 so not an equal comparison to the SVR but the SVR isn't going to feel like the Cayenne at 135mph if you happen to find some stretches were you can take her up that fast.

I got out of my 2014 Range Rover Sport Supercharged to get into a CTTS. No comparison. Whatever they have improved with the SVR, it will not be the same "driving" experience as the Cayenne. I actually love to drive the CTTS. I hated the Rover. Too much luxury, not enough handling. Soft with vague and wandering steering that required constant corrections on every turn. I think you will like the SVR for a few weeks and then realize how much better the driving experience was with the CTTS.
As for off roading - never did it. So it was not at all relevant.
