HP Claims

Hi Guys I have a 2016 TT and it was put on the dyno to get a baseline for work that will be done. Porsche says 520hp and 553 lbs. The norm is 15 to 17 percent lose in driveline but what my truck put out was 403 hp and 420 lbs. A loss of 22.5% and 24% in number porsche puts out. Dont get me wrong i am a porsche nut but these losses are bs. For what these things cost!

Losses are higher for AWD. Those numbers are for RWD cars. In addition, Dynojet will give higher numbers than Mustang. What kind of dyno was it? My 991 TTS measured 473 in Sport Plus with boltons only. With the FVD module it measured 493. The boltons are headers and an exhaust along with the plenum. I think the total added hp between headers and exhaust up top is about 40hp so my car would probably measure 433 stock on a Dynojet. The stated hp is 560 at the crank or a 22.7% loss.

Keep in mind, HP is an ephemeral number and the real numbers are measured at the drag strip, on the track or just in your butt dyno as you get the chance to let the car get loose from time to time.

That sounds about right. I used 22% loss when calculating the crank hp from my last dyno runs. As stated by member "wrs", AWD systems always have more drivetrain loss since they have more moving parts that create friction and power loss through unwanted heat.
